Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles Analysis
The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays square off in the third game of a four game set after splitting the first two games.
The Orioles hung on for a 6-5 victory yesterday after getting smashed 11-1 on Monday night. Jose Berrios will look to carry the momentum of his best start of the season into Wednesday nights game.
Meanwhile the Orioles hope struggling southpaw Bruce Zimmerman can turn the tide on what has been a brutal season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM EST/4:07 PST.
Orioles Once Again Play Role Of Spoiler
The Baltimore Orioles continue to be a pest to their opposition as they split the first two games against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 6-5 victory yesterday.
First baseman Ryan Mountcastle went 3 for 5 with a two run blast from the #3 spot in the order. Jordan Lyles did enough for his team to win the game, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing four runs on five hits.
The Orioles have now won five of their last nine games, which is a tremendous success for this squad. They still rank only 26th in runs scored and batting average, while ranking 24th in slugging percentage.
Bruce Zimmerman can’t be looking forward to this start against the potent Blue Jays lineup. Zimmerman is 2-5 with a 5.52 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. He was lit up for seven runs on 10 hits in only 4.2 innings against the Kansas City Royals in his latest.
Jays Sluggers Ready For Revenge
The Toronto Blue Jays fell just short of victory in a 6-5 loss to Baltimore last night after beating them 11-1 in the prior game.
Yusei Kikuchi had another poor outing with four runs allowed on five hits on only four innings. Walks and homeruns were the enemy once again as he had four and two respectively. Third baseman Matt Chapman went 2 for 4 with a two run long ball.
The Jays are battling the Tampa Bay Rays for second place in the American League East. They rank 10th with an average of 4.57 runs a game.
They rank 3rd in batting average, 8th in home runs and 3rd in slugging percentage. They will be looking to veteran righty Jose Berrios to continue his dominance. He has quality starts in four of his last five games with an eight inning one run performance in his last outing.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction
The Toronto Blue Jays are humongous -300 favorites on the money line, while the Baltimore Orioles are set at +235 with a total of 9.5.
Bruce Zimmerman really has his work cut out for him tonight against a dangerous lineup in Toronto. Berrios has been spot on and should have little trouble limiting the O’s lineup. The Baltimore bullpen is actually pretty solid as they rank 7th with a 3.34 ERA.
The money line is through the roof in this contest and even the run line is set at -145. The major edge in this game is the Jays bats against Zimmerman, so that what we will attack.
The Toronto first five inning team total is 3.5 and we get +115 odds on the over. Let’s back the Blue Jays to score early and often.
Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays F5 (first five innings) Team Total Over 3.5 +115
