White Sox vs Tigers Expert Betting Advice
This will be the first series between these division rivals during the 2023 campaign, they meet again next weekend for a three-game set in Chicago. The White Sox won the season series 12-7 in 2022, going 5-5 at home and 7-2 in Detroit.
The Tigers are kicking off a seven game homestand, while the Pale Hose wrap up a seven-game road trip. Chicago has heated up recently with wins in 7 of their last 9 games while Detroit is 5-5 over their last 10 games.
Both teams are having disappointing seasons but sit only 2.5 & 5.5 games behind first place respectively as the division leading Minnesota Twins are only two games above .500.
I lean towards the Tigers to win the series as they are playing at home with the superior bullpen. The White Sox have been horrendous on the road with a 9-17 record.
However, I will look Chicago’s way on the first five money line in Game 1 as Giolito will have the advantage over Faedo. The standout pitching matchup will be on Sunday between Dylan Cease and Eduardo Rodriguez.
None of the big-name hitters are living up to the hype on either side. Tim Anderson has had a particularly rough season, dealing with an April injury and scuffling badly at the plate when he has played. Anderson is batting only .244 on the season and has only 7 doubles and no home runs in 131 at bats.
E-Rod has owned him, holding him hitless at 0-14 on his career. My favorite play of the series is Tim Anderson under his total bases in Game 4 as this will also be a getaway game for Chicago.
