White Sox vs Yankees Analysis
The New York Yankees take on the Chicago White Sox in the second game of a four-game set from Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday night.
New York claimed the opener 15-7 behind a late offensive explosion. The White Sox will turn to starting pitcher Vince Velasquez to try and bounce back. Gerrit Cole will toe the rubber for the Yankees. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 PM EST.
White Sox Out For Revenge
Entering this series, the Chicago White Sox had won seven of their last eight games pushing them to 2nd place in the American League Central. They were taken down a peg on Thursday night, losing 15-7 after the Yankees scored 7 runs in the 8th inning.
Dylan Cease had a rocky start, giving up 6 earned runs on 6 hits in only 4 innings pitched. He did strikeout 11 batters but it wasn’t the outing he expected.
Reliever Joe Kelly fell victim to the late rally as he allowed 5 runs in only two-thirds of an inning while taking his first loss of the season. Yoan Moncada hit a three-run blast in the 7th inning to knot things up before the Yankee rally in the 8th.
The Pale Hose offensive attack is yet to hit their stride as they rank bottom 10 in runs scored. They will turn to Vince Velasquez to right the ship, he comes into the game with a 2-2 record and 3.97 ERA. He will have to bring his absolute best effort to keep this New York lineup in check.
Yankees Towering Sluggers Smash White Sox
The New York Yankees have been the hottest team on the planet for several weeks now. They are on a four game winning streak and have won 16 of their last 18 games. They are the true definition of the “Bronx Bombers”, ranking second in runs scored and home runs and 3rd in OPS.
Many other teams sluggers are struggling to hit for power, while Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are so big and strong they are nearly impossible to contain. Judge leads the league with 11 home runs, while Stanton Leafs the league with 28 RBI. In last night’s 15-7 victory, Stanton had 2 bombs and 6 RBI and Judge had a blast and 4 RBI.
The Yankee offense is terrifying but their pitching might be even better as they rank 2nd in team ERA. New York ace Gerrit Cole will get the chance to extend the hot streak. He enters this game with a 2-0 record and 2.67 ERA across six starts. Cole has bounced back from a slow start allowing just one earned run over his last three starts.
White Sox vs Yankees Prediction
The New York Yankees are now heavily favored with a -190 money line, while the Chicago White Sox are set at +160 with a total of 8. The New York Yankees are a runaway freight train that I’m not willing to step in front of right now.
Even though Velasquez has pitched well recently, he is still a pitcher that I don’t trust. I give the Yankees a major edge in starting pitching, especially with how sharp Cole has been.
The White Sox have also been better recently, but their lineup is still not completely healthy. The Bronx Bombers have advantages in every aspect of the game, so I will back them on the run line to lower the juice significantly.
Prediction: New York Yankees -1.5 +100
