2024 PFL World Championship Predictions

Dakota Ditcheva -380 vs Taila Santos +300

I expected Santos to be better in PFL, but she hasn’t impressed. Looking back at her UFC career, I think most of us overrated her as her best performance was losing to Shevchenko when Shevchenko may have been injurred.

Santos won a split to Jena  Bishop, and even though she beat Carmouche, Carmouche is 40, and it wasn’t a dominating performance. Her path to victory here is to wrestle, take Ditcheva down and  do that for all 5 rounds, but I don’t see it.

Ditcheva’s striking is elite, Ditcheva is younger  and more athletic, and her gym is top notch and no doubt they’ll have her ready to  defend the takedown, and get up if the takedown occurs. I don’t think Santos can wrestle and avoid the strikes for all 5 rounds, Ditcheva is the pick here.

Impa Kasanganay -180 vs Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov +150

I give Impa the edge over 5 rounds, but Yags will have his moments early on in this fight. Yags doesn’t throw a ton of volume, but he lands clean when he does.

Impa has the experience edge as he’s won a PFL Championship before, and I think his activity  with strikes and with clinching and wrestling will be the difference.

If this was 3 rounds, I  would lean Yags, but in a 5-round fight Impa’s going to have too many weapons on offense for Yags to avoid, and with the lack of volume coming from Yags, he’s going to find it tough to win rounds.

He only landed 34 strikes in a 3-round fight against Wilkinson in his last fight, and that won’t get it done against Impa. Impa is the pick.

Shamil Musaev -270 vs Magomed Umalatov +220

Not sure why Umaltov is this big of an underdog, but he’ll be the pick here. Musaev has really good striking, and he showed good wrestling and takedown defense in his last  fight, but Umaltov is the best fighter that Musaev has faced.

Both guys will have to manage their cardio in this fight, and I wonder if Musaev won’t have the early power that  he’s showed in the past.

If he doesn’t have the flashy big strikes, Umalatov will be able to piece him up on the outside and make this really close.

I don’t think Musaev will be  able to take Ulmatov down so this could be 5 rounds on the feet, and Umalatov can absolutely win some close rounds so he’ll be the pick at this price.

Gadzhi Rabadanov -550 vs Brent Primus +410

Primus is 39 years old, and his cardio is bad so this spells disaster in a 5-round fight. He’s going to have to get a finish in the first round or so because after that his cardio goes away, and his striking and wrestling get very sloppy.

He got lucky with his  matchups this season as none of his opponents had any type of ground game, but  Gadzhi should be able to keep Primus off of him with his striking and takedown defense.  This fight could be close early, but Gadzhi will pull away the longer the fight goes on.

Oleg Popov -130 vs Denis Goltsov +110

I didn’t understand this line at first, but it makes sense now. If Popov gets his wrestling  going, Goltsov will be helpless the longer the fight goes on, and Goltsov will get tired.

However, Goltsov has the better striking, and he’s no slouch on the ground if he can get  on top. If you’re playing this fight, it’s Goltsov by finish or Popov by decision.

I would expect a really aggressive Goltsov early as he’ll need to get the striking going early to keep Popov from shooting in with the wrestling, and I lean that Goltsov will have  success so he’ll be the pick. This isn’t a fight I’m super confident in so I won’t be  playing it, but Goltsov is the lean.

2024 PFL World Championship Main Event: Timur Khizriev -325 vs Brendan Loughnane +260

All the obvious plays in this fight are really juiced so the best I can do from a betting  perspective is recommend Khizriev to win by decision at -200.

Khizriev has won 6 fights in a row by decision, and he can strike or wrestle, and I think it will be too much for Loughnane who is 34, and honestly Loughnane has had an easy path to this point with his opponents.

He almost lost to Kai Kamaka, and I don’t see where he wins this fight as it won’t be in the wrestling or ground game, and I don’t think he can outstrike him  either. Don’t be surprised if this is a boring fight, but Khizriev should win on the scorecards.
