DWCS 9 Predictions
Sean Gauci -180 vs Anthony Drilich +150
Both these guys have similar styles, but I think Gauci is just a bit better all around. Neither guy throws a lot of volume, but Gauci seems to throw a bit more, which isn’t hard because Drilich will go long periods of time without throwing anything.
When he does let loose, he has big time power, but he depends on catching his opponent sleeping as opposed to trying to set up attacks, work the body or leg kicks, and I don’t see him clinching or closing the distance.
Gauci can clinch, is just more aggresive, and has a well-rounded attack that should get him the win if he avoids the huge punch of Drilich. Gauci is the play.
Islam Dulatov -450 vs Vanilto Antunes +350
The odds may not be long enough in this one as Dulatov looks like the real deal, and he is probably the most UFC ready fighter on the card. His striking is powerful and accurate, and he has a good ground game to go along with it.
He has KO wins, submission wins, and my only worry is that he finishes fights early so we haven’t seen him in a long fight where he has to deal with adversity.
I don’t think he’ll face much adversity in this one as Antunes is coming off an unexpected win in LFA where he KO’d the Champ, but straight punches is about all he has.
His cardio is suspect at best, he doesn’t have a good variety of strikes, and his striking and takedown defense doesn’t look crisp. Dulatov should bet the finish in this one.
Mario Pinto -600 vs Lucas Camacho +425
I don’t think Pinto is worthy of a -600 price here. His last couple of fights have been five rounds so his low volume and lack of movement can probably be attributed to him not wanting to gas out in those fights, but his fights can be really boring for long portions of the fight.
I also watched him get taken down in his last fight so laying -600 on a low volume fighter who can get taken down is a recipe for disaster.
Camacho has KO power, and I liked the pace he put on in his last fight in LFA so I think he’s absolutely a live dog here.
This fight screams going the distance for a close decision as both guys are tough to finish, and I could see them getting tired if it gets out of the first round. No way I’m playing Pinto at -600, I’ll just take this fight to go the distance.
Kody Steele -225 vs Chasen Blair +185
Steele was supposed to fight earlier this season, but his opponent dropped out and Dana White is very high on him, and Steele was promised another fight on this season so Blair is taking his fight on short notice.
Steele is the real deal as he can strike, wrestle and push a really good pace, but I like Blair’s skillset, especially his ability to finish with submissions like he’s done in his last three fights.
I think everyone is going just pencil in Steele, but I will just warn everyone that Blair’s ground game is no joke, and he can pull off a submission out of nowhere. I’ll pass on this fight.
DWCS Week 8 Main Event: Diyar Nurgozhay vs Bartosz Szewczyk
I can’t wait for watch Vakhitov fight. He has a long kickboxing career including a win over Alex Pereira in 2021, and it seems like the UFC is digging up everyone that’s faced Pereira to bring them in.
Vakhitov is very raw as an MMA fighter, but he has big power, especially with his kicks as he kicked a guy twice in his last fight and the guy quit.
Before that, he won by ground and pound so we know he has power, but you’ll see how raw he is with his movement and just his stance is awkward.
Masraf only has three pro fights, and while he’s won them all by finish, they were against bums. I would be stunned if this fight lasts for more than 1.5 rounds so take the under or Vakhitov to win by KO.
