This possible title eliminator headlines Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 49 event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Both fighters come into this meeting with extreme confidence as they both have their respective win streaks on the line. Islam Makhachev comes into this fight on a nine-fight win streak inside the octagon, with his most recent victory ending via first-round submission over Dan Hooker.

On the other side of the octagon, UFC veteran Bobby Green comes into this fight on a two-fight win streak. His most recent win came February 12th over Nasrat Haqparast.

Bobby ‘King’ Green comes into this fight as a massive +600 underdog as he takes this fight on short notice against a top contender in Makhachev. One enormous advantage swinging in the favor of Green will be his wealth of experience, as he’s competed in 18 UFC bouts along with competing against some of the very best in the world including Dustin Poirier, Edson Barboza, Rafael Fiziev and many morre.

In arguably the best form of his career, Bobby Green comes into this fight, coming off a dominant first-round finish of legend Al Iaquinta. In his most recent performance, he had a brilliant three-round display over prospect Nasrat Haqparast.

Islam Makhachev the pupil of Lightweight great Khabib Nurmagomedov has the opportunity to earn himself a title opportunity with a win this Saturday over Bobby Green. Makhachev accepted short notice opponent in Bobby Green after No. 3 contender Beneil Dariush suffered an injury while training for the fight.

The goal for Makhachev doesn’t change one bit as he’ll look to dominate while earning an opportunity to challenge for UFC gold. Islam has swelled up to a -900 favorite, while I expect we see him close around -1000 or even greater. This fight will be the third consecutive fight Makhachev closes as a -500 or greater favorite. He’s won the previous two dominantly with two submission victories as he looks to continue that streak.

Islam Makhachev vs Bobby Green Prediction

Makhachev is in a stratosphere that makes him extremely hard to compete with, let alone beat at the moment. He’s shown new skills with his striking time and time again to complement his world-class grappling that is scary for everyone in the lightweight division.

Bobby Green has shown great form of late to go along with a gas tank plus forward pressure on the feet that can give anyone trouble. I see him being extremely outclassed in this one.

I like Makhachev to get his hand raised in this one but I believe this fight goes past 2.5 rounds.
