Julianna Peña vs Amanda Nunes Prediction and Odds | UFC 277 July 30
UFC 277 Betting Preview
WagerTalk UFC handicapper Andrew McInnis breaks down the Julianna Peña vs Amanda Nunes fight giving useful betting advice. The Bantamweight championship will be on the line this Saturday in Dallas, Texas, as Peña defends her title against Nunes.
This fight marks the fourth consecutive fight in which Julianna Peña is an underdog. She’s 2-1 over her past three while defeating Nunes as a +750 underdog in their first meeting back in December. This fight will have massive legacy implications for both women on how they’re viewed long term.

Can lightning strike twice? Julianna Peña looks to end the Amanda Nunes chapter of her career, while Nunes looks to show that the first fight was a fluke and she’s still the queen of bantamweight.
Julianna Peña joined the UFC in 2013 after winning the ultimate fighter. She has since won 7 of her 9 UFC appearances while collecting two bonuses. Peña uses a solid wrestling base with a high-level gas tank that allows her to push the pace.
What is there to be said about Amanda Nunes that hasn’t already been said. She’s the most accomplished female fighter in MMA history. Nunes will be looking to use her sharp and explosive striking along with some good offensive wrestling to even the series with Julianna Peña.
The Venezuelan Vixen
Julianna Peña has worked her entire career for the opportunity to be UFC champion as she went through ups and downs throughout her career that helped form her into the fighter she is today.
Peña put together the greatest upset in UFC history in her first fight against Amanda as she weathered the early storm. She quickly turned the fight her way in round 2 and found the submission victory.
Peña will be looking to execute a similar game plan against Nunes but has to be aware of changes from the former champion in strategy. I expect a much calmer start to this fight from Amanda, which means Peña will need to bring the war and chaos out of Amanda Nunes.
Lioness
The last fight marked the first time that Amanda Nunes suffered a professional loss in nearly eight years. Nunes has been spectacular since joining the promotion in 2013, becoming the first-ever two-division women’s champion in UFC history. Amanda made massive changes to her camp preparations for this rematch with Peña.
She left her home of American Top Team to create her own private team and camp. This move shocked many of the MMA community and me as she had the recipe for success at American Top Team with great coaches and training partners.
Nunes will be looking to pace herself in this fight as she ran out of gas quickly during her last time out.Curtis Blaydes vs Tom Aspinall Prediction
Styles make fights, and this matchup should offer a very fan-friendly fight as everywhere this fight goes, there’s a tremendous opportunity for finishes.
Both females have the unique ability to win this fight on the feet and ground. Expect an action-packed fight, which is why we’re looking toward the under 2.5 rounds, which is widely available at -105 at the time of posting.
Julianna Peña vs Amanda Nunes Prediction
If you could create a fighter from scratch, that’d be the most challenging possible matchup for Amanda Nunes. You’d just be creating Julianna Peña.
The toughness and durability of Peña that she matches with pace and skill make her a tough matchup for anyone. I expect her to execute a similar game plan again and make this a dogfight.
Prediction: Julianna Peña +230
