UFC Fight Night: Krylov vs Spann Betting Odds

Saturday, February 25 UFC Fight Night Betting Notes (Courtesy of Caesars)
Moneyline: Nikita Krylov -170 vs Ryan Spann +145
Rounds: 1.5 Rounds (Over +110 / Under -130)
Fight Time: Main Card Starts at 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT
Arena: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV
TV: ESPN+

This UFC card fascinates me as I think there are a lot of live dogs on this card, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we see multiple fighters with their hands raised at plus money.

Then we have what should be a dynamic main event in Krylov vs Spann which I will give my pick for below. Since I believe in some of these underdogs, here are a few fights that feature a live dog.

Ailin Perez +105 vs Hailey Cowan

Cowan seems to be the new UFC darling, and they will continue to push her hard as she’s very marketable. However, she has a massive hole in her game with her work on the mat.

She won a split decision on Contender Series, and received a contract and it certainly seemed like she was going to get a contract regardless of what happened in that fight, so I’m not impressed with her, and Perez likes to work takedowns and get opponents on the mat.

Cowan is taller and the better striker, but if Perez gets it on the mat, she can keep it there for long stretches of time. Perez is a live dog for sure.

Ode Osbourne +135 vs Charles Johnson

I think these lines should be flipped. Osbourne is coming off a loss to Tyson Nam where he tried a really bad flying knee and got caught on the way down to get flash knocked out, but he was winning up til that point.

Charles Johnson is coming off of two victories, but I’m not impressed with either. Johnson will have the edge on the ground, and probably the cardio if it goes to the third round, but Osbourne has a huge edge on the feet and this is the best striker Johnson has faced.

Johnson has made it known he’s taking every fight he can possibly get for the paydays, and I don’t blame him as this is his shot to cash those UFC paydays. I just don’t think he’s the favorite in this fight, and Osbourne could knock him out.

Rafael Alves +155 vs Nurullo Aliev

Aliev is a great prospect, but this is his UFC debut and he’s not getting an easy matchup here. Alves went toe to toe with Drew Dober in his last fight, and got knocked out in the third round with a vicious body punch from Dober, but make no mistake…Alves was putting it on Drew.

Aliev likes to take fighters down, and he’s good at it, but this is such a huge step up in competition I think he will learn it’s not as easy at the UFC level.

Aliev leaves himself open to leg kicks and striking, and if Alves keeps it on the feet he could easily win this. No way I’m laying this much on a UFC debutant in a tough matchup.

Best Distance Prop:  Mike Malott vs Yohan Lainasse Under 1.5 rounds

Don’t blink in this one. Malott comes out strong out of the gate, likse pushing the pace and likes striking hard.

He should have a willing dance partner in Lainesse who hits like a truck early in the fights, but gasses once it gets into the second round.

Malott knocked out Mickey Gall in his last fight, but Gall was able to piece him up on the feet which isn’t a good sign for Malott as Lainesse has much better and powerful striking.

Neither of these guys wants a long fight, this should finish in the first with one of them going to sleep.

UFC Fight Night: Krylov vs Spann Expert Prediction

I just can’t get it out of my head how Ryan Spann knocked Dominck Reyes out cold in the first round, and then announced that he actually trained for the fight and doesn’t really train, but he will be moving forward. WHAT?!?

If Spann is going to look like that after training, he could KO Krylov no problem. I made money betting on Krylov in his last two fights as he got the KO win over Gustafson and then a decision win against Oezdemir, but I wasn’t impressed with him against Oezdemir.

He has one KO in eight UFC fights and that was against retired/unretired Gustafsson, and I think if he wins he’ll need to grind out three rounds and get Spann tired.

Maybe he can, but I’ll side with the underdog at a tasty +145 as I believe he has the power to rock Krylov if they get in close. Not a big play for me, but I’ve had a good read on Krylov his last two fights, let’s make it three in a row profiting on a Nikita Krylov fight.

Prediction: Ryan Spann Wins +145
