Ambetter Health 400 Track: Atlanta Motor Speedway

This track is now a superspeedway after the changes in 2022 so expect the race to look similar to Daytona last week with pack racing and cars going the same speed.

It makes for more unpredictability in the betting markets as any wreck can take out a majority of the field and flip the finishing positions, but the cars will be going the same speed so expect an exciting finish.

I would expect the same cars to be out front this week, which means the Fords of Logano, Cindric, and Blaney should see success if they stay out of the big crash.

Sometimes being up front is a bad thing in these races as we saw a lot of the best cars taken out with nine laps left. William Byron’s average running position on green flag laps was 17.4, but he ended up the eventual winner so there is a big element of luck in these races.

Ambetter Health 400 Top 10 Picks

We took two longshots last week at plus money hoping to hit one of them for profit, and we scored with Corey Lajoie finishing 4th. We’ll try a similar approach this week.

Michael McDowell +150

His race got cut short last week, but I’ll come back to him to finish strong this week. He has a top 10 finish since the track was changed to a superspeedway and his average finish is 13.3 so he’s hovering around the Top 10 at these tracks.

Chase Briscoe +200

Briscoe has had miserable performances in the three races here, but he got into the Top 10 last week at a superspeedway, and he’s in a Ford, which I expect to have serious speed this week.

Ambetter Health Head-to-Head Pick

Ryan Blaney -125 over Kyle Larson

Blaney has thrived here over the last three races as his average finish is 7th, which is tied for the best in the field.

Kyle Larson has had terrible results here as his average finish in the last three races is 26.7 which is is third worst in this field ahead of only Chris Buescher and BJ McLeod. Larson has tracks he loves, but this isn’t one of them so I’ll keep riding the trend of fading him here.

Ambetter Health 400 Manufacturer Winner Prediction

Chevy +135
Ford +180

I will put a unit on Chevy and a unit on Ford, and if either of them wins we turn a profit. Chevy and Ford have won the three races here at Atlanta and Toyota did not have a good showing last week as they only led 35 out of 200 laps.

They managed to have four Top 10 finishers, but that was because of the wreck at the end that took out most of the top cars. Even then, Chevy finished 1-2 so I’ll stay away from Toyotas this week.
