Denver Nuggets Betting Odds
2022-23 NBA Odds as of Monday, October 3 | Courtesy of DraftKings |
---|---|
NBA Championship Odds: | +1800 |
Northwest Division Odds: | -140 |
Regular Season Win Total: | 49.5 (o -140 / u +115) |
Opening Night: | -7.5 at Utah Jazz (o/u 217.5) |
Both Jamal Murray (torn ACL) and Michael Porter Jr (back) missed significant time. Missing key personnel left a lot on the shoulders of back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic who thrived in an individual capacity, setting career highs in points (27.1 per game) and rebounds (13.8) to go along with 7.9 assists per game. Jokic was rewarded in the offseason with a five-year supermax deal worth $264 million dollars, which is the richest deal in NBA history.
The Nuggets battled through a 48-33 regular season and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in five games against the eventual champions the Golden State Warriors.
Denver Nuggets Offseason Moves
Acquisitions:
- Bruce Brown (Free Agency)
- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Trade)
- Ish Smith (Trade)
- Christian Braun (Draft)
Losses:
- Will Barton (Trade)
- Monte Morris (Trade)
- JaMychal Green (Trade)
- DeMarcus Cousins (Free Agency)
- Austin Rivers (Free Agency)
Denver traded Will Barton and Monte Morris to the Washington Wizards for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith. The Nuggets also signed Bruce Brown and used their 21st overall draft pick on Christian Braun out of Kansas. A lot hinges on staying healthy, especially the lingering back issues of Porter Jr. But this is talented squad that made it to the Western Conference Finals in 2020 and could get back there once again.
Denver Nuggets Best Bet
Starting the season with both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr on the floor is crucial for the Nuggets if they have hopes of competing for an NBA title. Fact is, the last time these three were all healthy they were playing the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
The roll player shake-ups are intriguing, especially the addition of Bruce Brown’s unique skill set. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is an obvious fit around Jokic as he should add spacing on the floor.
Denver won 48 games last season despite dealing with more injuries to key players than any other team in the league. A healthy squad surrounding Jokic should set the Nuggets up for a 50-win season where they compete for a top-three seed.
Teams with shorter odds to win the West include the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and both the LA Lakers and Clippers. I could see a couple of those teams taking a step back and I would include Denver in that group. The +850 odds attached to the Denver Nuggets to advance to the NBA Finals offers tremendous value. Let’s roll with over 49.5 wins with a small play on the Nuggets to win the Western Conference.
Denver Nuggets Best Bet: Over 49.5 Regular Season Wins (-140 at DraftKings)
Small Play: Nuggets win the West +850
