Detroit Pistons Betting Odds

2022-23 NBA Odds as of Monday, October 3 Courtesy of DraftKings
NBA Championship Odds: +70000
Central Division Odds: +20000
Regular Season Win Total: 29.5 (o -125 / u +105)
Opening Night: -4.5 vs Orlando Magic (o/u 218)

The Detroit Pistons finished last season with a 23-59 record, which was the second-worst in the Eastern Conference behind the Orlando Magic. Detroit had two selections in the top-half of the 2022 NBA Draft and came away with Jaden Ivey with the No. 5 pick and Jalen Duren at pick No. 13.

The Pistons paved the way to make make this Cade Cunningham’s team as they traded last year’s team leader, Jerami Grant, to the Portland Trailblazers. Cunningham was named First Team All-Rookie, and along with Saddiq Bey, have begun to form a young nucleus in Motor City.

The Pistons strengthened their bench by adding Alec Burks and Nerlens Noel from the New York Knicks. This organization hasn’t seen a winning season since 2015-16, and while that might be asking a lot, they have surely taken steps to improve.

Detroit Pistons 2022-23 Season Outlook

The recent draft picks will bring excitement to Detroit, but they still lack depth and sorely miss a go-to scorer. Cunningham is a great talent that will grow into an NBA star, but that could be a season or two away.

Ivey is still raw and will need to work on creating his own shot. However, his presence should free-up Cunningham to facilitate on the offensive end when necessary. Cunningham is expected to be fully healthy this season a year removed from missing 18 games.

While we’re encouraged by the draft picks that are entering the team this season, the Pistons’ front office still makes some head-scratching moves like spending $37 million dollars for three years of Marvin Bagley III.

The Detroit Pistons’ regular season win total is set at 29.5 and that seems right on target. I could honestly endorse either side. They only won 23 games last season, meaning a seven-game jump is needed to surpass the over. I do like this team to improve but other teams in the Eastern Conference have done more. If we HAD to make a selection, it would be a small play on the under, which is available at plus-money at DraftKings.
