*Since 1983, there have only been two players to win the award without their team finishing in the top 3 of their respective division; Russell Westbrook 2016-17 and Nikola Jokic 2021-22.

*Since 1977, only four players have won the award without playing 70+ games; Joel Embiid 2022-23, Giannis Antetokounmpo 2019-20 (shortened due to Covid-19), Lebron James 2011-12 (shortened due to NBA lockout) and Karl Malone 1988-89 (shortened due to NBA lockout).

2025 NBA MVP Predictions

Generally, you don’t make money betting the favorite on futures, but Luka Doncic may be the exception to the rule as he’s finished no worse than 8th in the MVP voting during the last five seasons (3rd last season).

Doncic won the MVP of the Western Conference Finals during the Mavericks Finals run while averaging 28.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.1 assists in the postseason.

Dallas should be better this season with the additions of Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall & Spencer Dinwiddie and Doncic should have better chemistry with Kyrie Irving and Derek Lively II.

Doncic is 25 and Michael Jordan, Lebron James & Giannis Antetokounmpo all won the award at age 24, it’s his time.

The narrative behind Anthony Edwards makes him an amazing value play as he was dubbed the next face of the NBA after leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals last season.

The Timberwolves organization assured him that this is his team as they traded away former #1 pick Karl-Anthony Towns for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a 2025 1st round pick.

Minnesota should still fight for a top 3 spot in the conference which will put him in position to win his first MVP at 12 to 1 odds.
