76ers vs Celtics Analysis

Big game tonight between two teams fighting for playoff seeding in the East, and we’ll take a look at what props stand out to us in this game. We obviously have some big names in the prop betting world with Embiid, Tatum and Brown, but are those the best guys to look at tonight? Let’s dive in and see…

76ERS vs CELTICS TEAM TOTALS

Boston is at 105.5 for their team total tonight and Philly is at 104.5, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Philly has gone under this total in their two games without Seth Curry. They played great defense in those games, but not having that threat from outside was a glaring weakness.

This season the Celtics are the No. 1 defensive team against small forwards, and No. 3 against centers. I don’t think they’ll stop Embiid, but they’ll be pesky enough to hold Philly under their team total. These teams have played three times this season and Boston hasn’t gotten over this total in any of those games, and with Maxey, Thybulle and Embiid they should be solid tonight. I like Boston’s team total under, but Philly and the under is my favorite.

Team Total Recommendation: 76ers’ Team Total UNDER 104.5 Points

76ERS vs CELTICS PLAYER PROPS

I like the way the Celtics are playing now, and I think Horford and Williams are going to be up for the challenge to battle with Embiid all night so I’ll take Embiid under 48.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists. He didn’t get over the total in the last game he played Boston, and earlier this season he did go over against Boston but Horford and Williams didn’t play.

I lost a bet on Sunday when I took Marcus Smart over 13.5 points, and he ended on 13, but he went 0-5 from threes and just didn’t shoot well. The books have his number at 11.5 today, so I’ll take the over on his points tonight as my favorite play.

Favorite Player Prop: Marcus Smart OVER 11.5 Points

76ERS vs CELTICS SAME-GAME PARLAY

  • Al Horford 4+ Rebounds
  • Jayson Tatum 20+ Points
  • Marcus Smart 4+ Assists

(From FanDuel)

Horford has been playing well this month and has gone over this total in eight straight games and he has double digits in five out of seven games. Tatum can go under this total if the game is a blowout, but this is a huge game and he shouldn’t rest much. He’s played 37 and 40 minutes the last two games, both games were close and had 24 and 38 points in that game. Smart has really improved recently as a point guard, and has gone over this assist total in six out of eight games, and the two games he went under were blowouts.

76ers vs Celtics Preview from GoldSheet

As of February 15, as in the short-term Boston helped itself more with the addition of Derrick White, the ex-Spur who has seamlessly been able to slide into Ime Udoka’s rotations and scoring 15 ppg in his first two wearing the kelly green. That’s also because Harden is going to wait a while longer to make his Sixers debut, which isn’t slated until after the All-Star break as his sore hamstring mends.

At the moment, Philly could use a healthy Harden to impede a rampant Boston that’s won eight in a row, with Celtic defense in the spotlight after allowing the last five foes to score less than a point per possession.

Meanwhile Robert Williams is trying to do his best Bill Russell impersonation by blocking at least two shots in each of the eight straight Boston wins. Long before the trade, these two split a pair in December at TD Garden, with “Wilt’ Embiid held to 3 of 17 from the floor on the Sixers side in a 1-point Boston win on Dec. 1 before erupting for 41 on the 20th when Philly avenged the first result with a 108-103 win. Note that both of those landed “under” which has (no surprise) been the pattern of the defense-tough Celtics, now “under” 11-3 their last 14 games.
