Atlanta Hawks at Utah Jazz Betting Analysis

On Friday night, the Atlanta Hawks visit Salt Lake City for an interconference clash with the Utah Jazz. The Jazz won their second straight game in a 131-128 shootout against Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.

The Hawks went to Phoenix and ran the Suns off the court 132-100. These teams only meet twice a season and the next matchup is next Thursday the 9th in Atlanta. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PST from Vivint Arena.

Hawks Fly High Over Suns

The Atlanta Hawks got back to .500 at 26-26 after smoking the Suns by 32 points on Wednesday. The Hawks had a tremendous advantage from beyond the arc as they shot 19-33 57.6% from three-point land while Phoenix shot a pathetic 4-28 for 14.3%.

Dejounte Murray led his team in scoring with 21 points along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Trae Young recorded a 20 point, 12 rebound double-double while Bogdan Bogdonavic chipped in with 18 points off the bench.

Atlanta currently occupies the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, 11 games behind the first place Celtics and 1.5 games away from missing the play-in tournament. They sit at 9th in scoring with 116.5 points a game on 48% from the field.

The Hawks rank below average defensively at 19th in defensive rating and 22nd in defensive scoring with 116.5 points allowed per game. Atlanta sports a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.

Jazz Look For Third Straight Victory

The Utah Jazz moved a game above .500 at 27-26 after winning their second straight game over Toronto on Wednesday.

Free throws may have been the difference as Utah went 26-30 86.7% from the charity stripe while the Raptors went only 18-26 69.2%. Lauri Markkanen led his team in scoring with 28 points along with 13 rebounds.

Walker Kessler recorded a 17 point, 14 rebound double-double while Jordan Clarkson added 23 points and 5 assists. The Jazz currently occupy the 8th seed in the Western Conference, 9.5 games behind the first place Nuggets and 1 game away from missing the play-in tournament.

Defense has been a real struggle for this team as they sit at 26th in defensive rating and 23rd in defensive scoring with 116.5 points allowed per game.

Offense has been their calling card as they rank 4th in scoring with 117.8 points a game on 47.4% from the floor. Utah also has a clean injury, so this could be the first injury-free NBA game of the 21st century.

Atlanta Hawks at Utah Jazz Player Prop Prediction

This game is a virtual pick’em with the Utah Jazz favored by only 1.5 points with a total set high at 240. Both teams are in no man’s land as they must decide between trading away talent for the future or standing pat and entering the post-season with a slim chance at advancing.

We should see plenty of scoring between the 4th & 9th best scoring teams that also rank 19th & 27th in defensive rating.

The Utah rookie center Walker Kessler has become more involved in the offense recently and averaged 10 points a game during the month of January.

His point total is set at 10.5 and ge has cleared that mark in 7 of his last 9 games. The Hawks allow the 8th most points a game to opposing centers with 23.18 per game.

Kessler scored 12 on Atlanta on November 9th despite playing only 16 minutes. Let’s back the Auburn product to get the job done with 11+ points against a vulnerable opponent.
