Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks Betting Analysis
The New York Knicks visit State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA for an Eastern Conference clash with the Hawks on Wednesday night. The Hawks were outscored 144-138 in a shootout in Charlotte on Monday night.
The Knicks won their second straight game 124-106 at home against the Brooklyn Nets. This and final game in a regular season series that Atlanta leads 2-1 after winning 139-124 at home on January 20th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST.
Hawks Come Home Before Break
The Atlanta Hawks fell to .500 on the season at 29-29 after losing a shootout in Charlotte. The Hornets outshot Atlanta 20-37 54.1% to 11-28 39.3% from beyond the arc.
Trae Young led his team in scoring and assists with a 25 point, 14 assist double-double. Clint Capela scored 22 points, De’Andre Hunter scored 21 and Dejounte Murray put up 20.
Atlanta currently occupies the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, 2.5 games behind New York and 1.5 games away from missing the play-in tournament altogether. The Hawks rank 8th in scoring with 116.7 points a game on 47.9% from the field.
They are the leagues 11th best rebounding team with 43.9 per game. Defense has been a different story as they sit at 20th in defensive rating and 21st in defensive scoring with 116.7 points allowed per game. Starters John Collins (hip) and De’Andre Hunter (ankle) are both listed as questionable for this contest.
Knicks Need A Road Win
New York Knicks improved to 32-27 on the season after beating Brooklyn on Monday. The Knicks outshot Brooklyn 45-82 54.9% compared to Brooklyn going only 35-78 44.9%.
Jalen Brunson led all scorers an impressive 40 point performance on an efficient 15-21 from the field. Julius Randle recorded a 18 point, 10 rebound double-double while newcomer Josh Hart put up 27 points off the bench.
New York currently occupies the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, 2.5 games ahead of tonight’s opponent. The Knicks are a middle of the pack offense that ranks 15th in scoring with 114.4 points a game on 46.1% from the floor.
They sit at 17th in defensive rating and 12th in defensive scoring with 112.5 points allowed per game. The Knicks are the NBAs 3rd best rebounding team with 46.8 per game.
Mitchell Robinson will be out for approximately four more weeks with a thumb injury. Outside of that, the Knicks sport a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.
Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks Player Prop Prediction
The Atlanta Hawks enter this game as 3.5 point home favorites with a total of 233. Both teams are play-in teams looking for an important victory in their final game before the break.
Julius Randle has feasted on the Hawks but his rebound and assist production has taken a hit with the addition of Josh Hart. Randle is still scoring with 18, 30 & 31 points in his last three games.
He scored only 14 points against Atlanta on 11/2 but has posted 34 & 32 point games on 12/7 & 1/20. Jalen Brunson has really struggled to score against Atlanta with 20, 8 & 19 points, so Randle will need to pick up the slack.
The Hawks allow 8th most points to opposing power forwards with 23+ per game and rank 21st in points allowed in general. We also have a low spread and high total, which is great for over bets. Let’s back Randle tonight in the ATL.
