Atlanta Hawks vs Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis

The Phoenix Suns visit Atlanta for an inter conference clash with the Hawks on Thursday night. The Hawks lost their second straight game 116-107 in New Orleans against the Pelicans on Tuesday evening.

The Suns won their third straight game 116-112 on the road against the Brooklyn Nets. Atlanta crushed the Suns on February 1st in Phoenix in the first of two regular season meetings between these squads. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA.

Suns Pull Off Blockbuster Durant Deal

As of the writing of this article, the Phoenix Suns acquired Kevin Durant and TJ Warren from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder and four first-round draft picks in a deal that changes the balance of power in the Western Conference.

The Suns improved to 30-26 on the season after winning in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Devin Booker returned to action for the first time since injuring his groin on Christmas Day.

He scored 19 points along with 6 assists and 4 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. De’Andre Ayton led his team in scoring while recording a 35 point, 15 rebound double-double while Chris Paul had 12 dimes.

Phoenix had a big 48-36 rebounding edge in the game. The Suns currently occupy the 5th spot in the Western Conference, 8.5 games behind the first place Nuggets.

They sit well below average in scoring at 21st with only 112.7 points a game on 46.3% from the field. Defense has been their calling card as they rank 8th in defensive rating and 5th in defensive scoring with 111.3 points allowed per game.

Devin Booker has been ruled out for this contest to manage his injury along with Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet.

Hawks Holding Play-In Spot

The Atlanta Hawks fell to a game below .500 at 27-28 after losing in New Orleans on Tuesday. The Pels dominated the interior with a 47-41 rebounding edge while outscoring Atlanta 56-40 in the paint.

Bogdan Bogdonavic led his team in scoring with only 22 points off the bench while Trae Young recorded a 16 point, 16 rebound double-double.

The Hawks have maintained a play-in tournament spot for the majority of the season and currently occupy the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta has a top ten offensive attack that ranks 8th in scoring with 116.1 points a game on 47.9% from the floor.

They sit at 19th in defensive rating and 20th in defensive scoring with 116.5 points allowed per game. The Hawks are sporting a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.

The Atlanta Hawks enter this game as 7 point home favorites with a total set at 228.5. The Suns just pulled off what in all likelihood will be the biggest deal of the NBA trade deadline.

However, the Suns will be extremely short-handed for this one as Durant is still on the shelf, Booker has already been ruled out and Bridges just got shipped to Brooklyn.

As mentioned earlier, the Hawks beat the by 32 in Phoenix just 8 days ago. In that game, Trae Young recorded 12 assists despite playing only 27 minutes in the blowout. It’s tough to figure how this game shakes out with the uncertainty surrounding the Suns.

However I can see a max effort from Phoenix in a revenge spot. Regardless Young has cleared this line in 7 of his last 10 games with an average of 10.6 assists per game during that span. Let’s go with a high percentage play in a game that has a lot of question marks.
