Atlanta Hawks vs Toronto Raptors Analysis
The Atlanta Hawks will play host to the Toronto Raptors for an Eastern Conference tilt at State Farm Arena on Monday night. The Raptors improved to 24-23 after outlasting the Miami Heat 124-120 in a triple-overtime marathon on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, the Hawks will be playing the second game of a back-to-back after winning a 129-121 shootout over the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday afternoon. These teams haven’t faced off yet this season, but will get familiar with each other as they play another three head-to-head matchups down the stretch.
Hawks Flying High
After making it to the Eastern Conference last season, the Hawks got off to a poor start this season. The Hawks are now fully healthy and won their 7th straight game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers. They are one game below. 500 at 24-25 and sit at 10th in the Eastern Conference.
Trae Young paced his team with 36 points and 12 assists, while Joh Collins added 20 points and 11 rebounds. The Hawks are 7th in the league in scoring with 111.7 points while ranking 27th in defensive efficiency also allowing over 111 points per game. Amazingly the Hawks are a literally fully healthy coming into this game.
Raptors Prevail in Miami
The Toronto Raptors come into this game at 24-23 while sitting at 8th place in the Eastern Conference. On Saturday the Raptors scored a huge triple-overtime victory over the Heat in Miami. Gary Trent Jr nearly matched Jimmy Butlers scoring output with 33 points, while Pascal Siakim chipped in with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
This was Trent Jr’s 3rd straight game with more than 30 points and 5 three-pointers. Toronto comes into the game in solid form, as they have won 2 of their last 3 games. The Raptors are basically healthy as well with only Khem Birch out after undergoing nose surgery. The Raptors rank 16th in defensive efficiency while 106.7 points a game. They also score 107.5 points a game, ranking only 22nd in the NBA.
Atlanta Hawks vs Toronto Raptors Prediction
The Atlanta Hawks are 1.5 point underdogs with a 219 over/under. Both teams come into this game in great against the spread form. The Raptors are 13-6-1 against the spread in their last 20 games, while the Hawks are 7-0 against the spread in their last seven.
While the Hawks rank 27th in defensive efficiency, they have improved recently as they have gotten healthy in recent weeks. In the past week or so they have held Boston to 92 points, Charlotte to 91 points and Miami to 108 points.
The Hawks are on the second game of a back-to-back but only Trae Young played more than 30 minutes. Atlanta is at home, more talented and are the hottest team in the league. We will lay the minimal two point spread with the Hawks tonight in Atlanta.
Official Play: Atlanta Hawks +1.5

Atlanta Hawks vs Toronto Raptors Preview from GoldSheet
Not a normal second night of back-to-backs here for the Hawks, who got Sunday’s game with the Lakers out of the way early so everyone could watch the football games on TV later in the day. That also happened to be a seventh straight win and cover for ATL when blowing past the Lake Show like a hurricane in the 4th quarter, outscoring LA 38-20 to erase a 10-point deficit, with Trae Young (36 points) on fire once again.
Though defense was not great for the first three quarters on Sunday, it was more than good enough in the 4th quarter when the Hawks made their move, and worth noting it has mostly been a revival on the stop end that has fueled the win streak. Onyeka Okongwu (16 points) also continued to impress off the bench for Nate McMillan and even kept Clint Capela off of the floor because he was so effective on Sunday.
Meanwhile it’s been back-and-forth the past couple of weeks for the Raps, who haven’t won consecutive games since Jan. 7-9, though they are off of a rousing OT win at Miami on Saturday when Gary Trent, Jr. erupted for 33 points.
At its best Toronto takes care of the ball and crashes the glass with abandon, but its effective FG percentage (50.1%) still ranks in the bottom five of the league and has contributed to the recent inconsistencies after Nick Nurse seemed to have things straightened out earlier in the month when the Raps had a 6-game win streak.
Toronto has also mostly trended “under” in January (8-3 last 11), and prior to all of the scoring yesterday vs. LA, the Hawks were “under” three in a row. Note these teams have yet to meet this season and will face off twice more In February. Play Atlanta and the Under.
