Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards Betting Analysis
The Washington Wizards travel to Atlanta for an Eastern Conference tilt with the Hawks on Tuesday night.
The Hawks are coming off their second straight victory 129-127 at home against the Brooklyn Nets. The Wizards lost their second straight game 102-82 on the road against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon.
This will be the first of four head-to-head regular season meetings that will take place over the next six weeks. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Snyder Takes The Helm
The Atlanta Hawks have decided to hire the 56 year-old Quin Snyder as their new head coach instead of going the interim route for the remainder of the season. Interim coach Joe Prunty has coached the team to two straight victories since taking over after the All-Star break.
The Hawks upped their record to 31-30 on the season after beating Brooklyn on Sunday. Atlanta dominated the glass with a 46-37 rebounding edge.
Trae Young led all scorers with 34 points along with 8 assists. Dejounte Murray added 28 points and 4 assists while Bogdan Bogdonavic chipped in with 22 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
Atlanta currently occupies the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, 12.5 games behind the first place Celtics and 2.5 games away from missing the play-in tournament altogether. The Hawks are the NBAs 8th best scoring team with 116.9 points a game on 48% from the field.
Defense has been a different story as they sit at 21st in both defensive rating and defensive scoring with 117 points allowed per game. Atlanta sports a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.
Wizards Look To Gain Ground
The Washington Wizards fell to 28-32 on the season after losing in Chicago on Sunday. The Bulls had a tremendous advantage from the charity stripe where they shot 14-17 for 82% compared to Washington who shot only 12-23 for 52%.
Bradley Beal led the team in scoring with only 18 points on 7-17 shooting. Daniel Gafford recorded a 15 point, 11 rebound double-double while Delon Wright chipped in with 14 points.
The Wizards currently occupy the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference, only a half game from missing the play-in tournament altogether.
You have to question their motivation as their first-round pick is top 14 projected, meaning if they make the post-season their pick goes to the Knicks.
They sit well below average in scoring with 113 points a game on 48% from the floor. Washington ranks 19th in defensive rating and 15th in defensive scoring with 113.2 points allowed per game.
Kristaps Porzingis is listed as doubtful for this contest due to a knee injury while Monte Morris is questionable with a back issue.
Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards Expert Player Prop Prediction
The Atlanta Hawks are 6 point home favorites with a total set at 233.5. This is a battle between two teams separated by only 2.5 games in the standings who are both in “no man’s land” as they can’t win the title or get an elite draft pick.
Trae Young has crushed his Points + Rebounds + Assists line of 40.5 in both his games since the All-Star break with 46 & 45 PRA.
Young butted heads with former head coach Nate McMillan and he has been playing with a chip on his shoulder since the Hawks parted ways with him.
Young has yet to face the Washington Wizards yet this season but put up 43 PRA in his last game against them during April of the 2021-22 campaign.
The Wizards are a middle of the pack defense against point guards but Monte Morris is questionable after missing Sundays game with a back injury.
Morris is an elite defender so him being out or being hampered by injury would open things up for Young. Young hasn’t let us down since the break and will continue to ride with him tonight!!
Player Prop Prediction: Trae Young Over 40.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists -110 Barstool
