NBA Player Props Predictions 1: LeBron James, Lakers OVER 6.5 Rebounds (-140) DK
Los Angeles Lakers forward Lebron James has averaged 7.5 rebounds per game while recording 7+ rebounds in 25 of 44 games for a 57% success rate to the over.
James snagged 9 rebounds against the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day and that seems to be his magic number as he also recorded exactly 9 rebounds in both head-to-head games last season.
The Celtics allow the 10th most rebounds to opposing small forwards with 7.78 per game. They also take the MOST three-point attempts by a wide margin and those misses tend to bounce away from the rim and centers which leads to more opportunities for forwards and guards.
It also will help that Kristaps Porzingis tends to sit on the three-point line which will limit Anthony Davis from grabbing offensive rebounds.
On top of that, AD is questionable after missing the last three games with Achilles and hip injuries so he may not even be a factor.
James has feasted on the boards against other teams ranking top-5 in three-point attempts with 15 & 10 rebounds against the Kings, 20 against the Warriors and 8, 8 & 9 against the Mavs. This play is getting juicy at -140 but James track record against Boston speaks for itself.
NBA Player Props Predictions 2: Jrue Holiday, Celtics OVER 13.5 Points (-120) DK
Boston Celtics point guard Jrue Holiday is averaging 13.4 points per game on 46.5% shooting from the field through his first 44 games of the 2023-24 campaign.
Holiday has only scored 14+ points in 22 of those games but he’s been in great scoring groove recently, clearing this total in 6 of his last 8 games.
During the last five games, Holiday has scored 17, 20, 7, 17 and 17 points for an average of 15.6 per game. The Los Angeles Lakers are allowing the 9th most points to opposing point guards with an average of 25.79 per game.
Holiday has scored 18+ points in each of his last three head-to-head meetings against Los Angeles with 18, 18 and 28 points.
He’s also been extremely efficient recently, clearing this mark in games where he’s taken less than double digit field goal attempts.
Holiday scored 17 points against the Lakers on Christmas Day while logging 38 minutes and shooting 7-10 from the field. Look for a similar performance tonight at the TD Garden.
