NBA Underdog Picks Today – Bet #1

Washington Wizards +550 at Chicago Bulls

Our first NBA underdog picks today focus on the Washington Wizards playing spoiler in Chicago. Washington heads into Chicago to face the Bulls riding a season-high two-game winning streak. The Wizards just earned their 13th win of the season as they defeated the Toronto Raptors 112-109. With just their third two-game winning streak of the season, Washington has kept from falling behind the Detroit Pistons for the worst record in the NBA.

Injuries have been mounting up for Washington, but we still like their outlook with Kyle Kuzma, Landry Shamet & Tyus Jones have been ruled out while Jordan Poole is listed as questionable. The Wiz are playing with energy, and they seem like a team that relishes the role of spoiler. Meanwhile, the Bulls looked gassed in the 4th quarter against Boston, and DeMar DeRozan played 42 minutes. The Bulls also rank 29th in pace of play, which limits their ability to blowout their opponents.

These teams played just nine days ago, and Chicago crushed the Wizizards 127-98 in their first head-to-head meeting, where Ayo Dosunmu scored a career-high 34 points. Washington also has one more win on the road than at home this season, so this is not a situation where they are at a disadvantage when on the road.

The Wizards are an ugly ‘dog, but at this price, they are one of the best NBA underdog picks today, and we would sprinkle the Wizards on the moneyline.

Toronto Raptors +210 vs. Brooklyn Nets

Something has to give tonight in Toronto. The Nets and Raptors are both having tough seasons, and both teams are currently in the midst of major losing streaks. Toronto has not won since March 3rd (10 games), and the Nets have dropped their last six games.

Both teams are 3-7 against the number in their last ten games, so a losing streak will be broken tonight, as will an against-the-spread tie over these teams’ last ten games. The season series is tied 1-1, and in the last matchup between these teams on 2/22, the Raptors ran the Nets out of the building in Toronto, winning by 28 points.

The Nets have been favored three times in their last ten games, and they are 1-2 against the spread in those instances. The Raptors have been ‘dogs of 6+ in eight of their last ten games, and they are 3-5 against the number in those contests. We make this game Brooklyn -.5, so despite how ugly it is, we are taking the Raptors with the points tonight at home and on the moneyline.

Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley, three starters for Toronto, will all miss tonight’s contest, but still, the Nets do not have the firepower to win by margin. The Nets are scoring 105.6 points per game over their last ten, while the Raptors scoring 105.

Toronto’s defense has been abysmal, allowing 120.7 points per game over this stretch, but the Nets’ lack of scoring prowess makes this moot. We expect more offense from normal for both these teams, but the Raptors should keep this game within the number and can win it outright.
