Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers Betting Analysis
The Boston Celtics return home to face the Philadelphia 76ers for Game 5 of their second round series on Tuesday night.
The 76ers evened up the series 2-2 after a 116-115 overtime victory against the Celtics on Sunday afternoon.
James Harden led the way for the Sixers with 42 points including what ended up being a game winning three-pointer with 20 seconds remaining. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST from TD Garden in Boston.
Celtics Fall Short In OT
The Boston Celtics let a golden opportunity to take a commanding 3-1 series lead slip through their fingers in overtime of a Game 4 loss to Philadelphia.
Jayson Tatum led his team in scoring and rebounding with a 24 point, 18 rebound double-double. Jaylen Brown was right behind him with 23 points but faded down the stretch with only three shots in the 4th quarter and none in overtime.
Brown also made the critical mistake of leaving James Harden open in the corner for the game winning three-pointer. Malcolm Brogdon continued his strong play off the bench with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists in 36 minutes of play.
The Celtics ranked 2nd in offensive efficiency and 3rd in defensive efficiency and that’s been an obvious recipe for a Championship over the years.
Boston finished the regular season with a 32-9 home record and have gone 3-2 in the post-season. There are no injury concerns for the Celtics entering Game 5.
Sixers Go As Harden Does
Joel Embiid was named NBA MVP for the 2022-23 campaign but the Philadelphia 76ers most valuable player for this series has been James Harden.
Harden scored a game high 45 points in a Game 1 victory over the Boston Celtics only to average only 14 PPG in the next two games, both of those losses.
In Game 4 Harden struck again with a game high 42 points to go along with 9 assists and 8 rebounds in another victory.
Embiid also bounced back into regular season form with a 34 point, 13 rebound double-double while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds. The Sixers only got 11 points out of their bench and 9 of those were scored by Georges Niang.
Philadelphia played to a 25-16 road record during the regular season and have gone 3-1 on the road in the post-season. They ranked 3rd in offensive efficiency and 9th in defensive efficiency and also have no major injury to report.
Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers Prediction
The Boston Celtics enter this contest as 7.5 point home favorites with a total set at 213.5. We have seen three of the four games in this series clear this total as they only fell short in Game 2 due to Philadelphia scoring only 87 points.
The Celtics team total is set at 110.5 and they have cleared that in every single one of their 10 post-season games. Boston played to a 27-18-1 O/U record at home this season if you include the playoffs.
Boston ranked 2nd in offensive efficiency and Philadelphia ranked 3rd so both sides have scored consistent points throughout the season.
I’m expecting a much more fluid game from both teams but especially the Celtics as they are more comfortable at home.
