Boston Celtics vs Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis

The Phoenix Suns begin a lengthy road trip at TD Garden for an inter conference clash with the Boston Celtics on Friday night. The Celtics ran roughshod over the Brooklyn Nets 139-96 at home on Wednesday evening.

The Suns were on the wrong side of a 132-100 blowout at home against the Atlanta Hawks. This will be the second and final regular season game between these squads, Boston prevailed 125-98 in Phoenix on December 7th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST on NBA TV.

The Green Machine

The Boston Celtics improved to an NBA best 37-15 after winning their second straight game at home against Brooklyn on Wednesday. The Celtics won the first quarter 46-16 and never looked back.

Boston won the rebounding battle 57-32 while nearly tripling the Nets three-point production. Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 31 points and 9 rebounds.

Jaylen Brown was right behind him with 26 points while Derrick White added a 14 point, 10 rebound double-double. Sitting at first place in the Eastern Conference, Boston has a two game lead over the second place Milwaukee Bucks.

The Celts are the leagues #2 scoring team with an average of 118.2 points a game on 47.4% shooting. They rank 4th in defensive rating and 8th in defensive scoring with 112 points allowed per game.

Marcus Smart is the only player listed on the current injury report as he continues to rest an injured ankle.

The Phoenix Suns record dipped to 27-26 aflosing by 32 points to the Hawks on Wednesday. There was a major discrepancy in three-point shooting as the Hawks shot 19-33 57.6% from beyond the arc while Phoenix went a pathetic 4-28 14.3%.

Mikal Bridges was the games leading scorer with 23 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Chris Paul had an ugly game with only 3 points and 3 assists while shooting only 1-6 from the floor.

The Suns sit in the 7th seed of the Western Conference, 9.5 games behind the first place Nuggets and one game away from missing the play-in tournament.

Phoenix is a below average scoring team at 21st with only 112.7 points a game on 46.2% shooting. Defensively they sit at 11th in defensive rating and 6th in defensive scoring with 111.8 points allowed per game.

Devin Booker will not return for this contest, he is ramping up his on court work and could be back Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets. Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet both continue to miss time with foot injuries.

Boston Celtics vs Phoenix Suns Player Prop Prediction

The Boston Celtics are 9.5 point home favorites with a total set at 225.5. Both teams started the season with hopes of returning to the NBA Finals.

The Celtics are the leagues best team and have overcome multiple obstacles while the Suns injuries have gotten the best of them. This line seems almost fishy as the Celtics are coming off a blowout win while the Suns just lost by 32 to the Atlanta Hawks.

Everyone focuses on what Jayson Tatum does as a scorer but he has been consistently contributing with rebounds and assists as well.

Tatum has a rebounds + assists line set at 13.5 and he has surpassed that mark in 8 of his last 10 games while landing on exactly 13 in the other two games. Tatum has seen his assists go up without Marcus Smart on the court and he remains out tonight.

Tatum averaged 10.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists during the month of January for 15.5 RA per game. I think the Celtics cover but Phoenix keeps it close enough for Tatum to play full minutes and eclipse this RA total.
