Brooklyn Nets vs New York Knicks Prediction: The Analysis
The New York Knicks make a quick trip to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to meet the Nets in the battle of the Big Apple on Wednesday evening.
The Nets watched a two game winning streak fall by the wayside as they were edged out 96-94 on the road against the Dallas Mavericks. The Knicks came out on top 120-107 on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This is the first of four meetings in a regular season series that Brooklyn swept 4-0 in the 2021-22 campaign. Both teams are on equal rest as every NBA team played on Monday and had Tuesday off for Election Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST/4:40 PST.
Knicks Need Revenge
The New York Knicks record improved to 5-5 on the season on Monday with a 120-107 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Julius Randle was the games leading scorer with 31 points and his teams leading rebounder with 8.
Randle also shot the lights out from beyond the arc, going 8 for 13 on the night. Jalen Brunson added 23 points and RJ Barrett chipped in with 22. The Knicks will be looking to avenge a rare four game sweep against Brooklyn last season.
New York isn’t known for its defense as they currently rank 22nd with 115 points allowed per game. They also score 115 per game which ranks 10th in the association.
They are highly efficient in rebounding as they rank 2nd with 48.8 per game. Mitchell Robinson will miss this game and be reevaluated later this week while Quentin Grimes is day-to-day with a foot injury.
New York State of Mind
The Brooklyn Nets overcame the adversity of a Kyrie Irving suspension and a Steve Nash as they won two games in a row prior to Mondays 96-94 loss against the Dallas Mavericks.
Kevin Durant led all scorers with 26 points on 10 of 20 from the field. Cam Thomas added 19 points of the bench while Nic Claxton recorded a 10 point 14 rebound double-double.
It’s Kevin Durants team now and he leads the team with an average of 31 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. The Nets average 110.5 points a game which ranks 20th in the league.
They are just above average in scoring defense at 12th with an average of 111.5 points a game. However they are one of the leagues worst rebounding teams, ranking 29th with only 39.5 boards a game. Outside of the Irving suspension, Yuta Watanabe and TJ Warren have both already been ruled out for this contest.
Brooklyn Nets vs New York Knicks Prop – The Ultimate Betting Pick
The Brooklyn Nets are 2.5 point home favorites with a total set at 223.5. The Knicks will be looking to avenge being swept by the Nets in their four head-to-head meetings last season.
New York is averaging nearly five more points per game than Brooklyn and are a far superior shooting team. What really stands out is the significant Knicks rebounding advantage as they are 2nd best while the Nets are second worst.
Julius Randle should be the primary beneficiary as he has scored 29 & 31 in two games since Mitchell Robinson went down with injury.
The Knicks have run smaller lineups, making Randle on of the bigger players on the floor. Randle had a rough start to the season so we are getting a generous number here as books adjust to his increased scoring role.
The number is very manageable at 20.5 and his only legitimate competition for scoring is RJ Barrett and Jalen Brunson, leaving Randle a ton of room to go up and over this points total.
