Charlotte Hornets vs Toronto Raptors Analysis
The Toronto Raptors start the second half of the season on the road in Charlotte against the Hornets. The Hornets record fell to 29-31 after losing their third straight game before the break, 111-107 to the Miami Heat. Meanwhile Toronto snapped a two game losing streak with a 103-91 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves to improve to 32-25.
The Raptors have dominated the Hornets this season, winning on the road 125-113 and at home 116-101 earlier this month. This will the third and final regular season meeting between these squads.
Hornets Buzzing Off
The Charlotte Hornets started this season like they were shot out of a cannon, but have fallen flat and lost nine of their last 10 games. They squandered a huge lead in a 111-107 overtime loss to the Miami Heat in their last game. Miles Bridges led the Hornets with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Lamelo Ball had a 14 point, 14 assist, 10 rebound triple double before fouling out in the loss.
Gordon Hayward, Cody Martin and Jalen McDaniels are all out for the Hornets on Friday night, while Nick Richards is doubtful. The Hornets are first in the league in scoring offense with 113.8 points a game. However they struggle defensively, they are 28th in scoring defense with 114.7 points allowed per game to their rivals.
Raptors Scorching Hot
The Toronto Raptors will be looking to continue their torrid pace after starting February with a 7-2 record. Gary Trent Jr led the Raps with 30 points in their latest victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Toronto is now only 2.5 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors are now a game behind the Celtics for the final guaranteed playoff spot.
Toronto is 18th in scoring offense with 108.7 points a game and 10th in scoring defense with 106.9 points allowed per game.
Charlotte Hornets vs Toronto Raptors Prediction
The Toronto Raptors enter this game as 2-point favorites with a total set at 226.5. This is a classic battle of two teams heading in completely opposite directions, with the Raptors winning nine of their last 11 and the Hornets losing nine of their last 10 games.
It looks like Fred VanVleet is expected to take the floor for Toronto while Gordon Hayward remains out for Charlotte. The Hornets are getting crushed on the opposing glass as they rank 28th in defensive rebounding. Montrezl Harrell was brought in, but he provides only offense, not defense and rebounding. The Raptors seem to have the Hornets number, making them a strong play with only a two-point spread. We will confidently ride with the Raptors in this one.

Charlotte Hornets vs Toronto Raptors Player Props
From GoldSheet: The Hornets allow over 114 points per game (worst in East) which leaves us with an opportunity to look at Raptors props. Fred VanVleet expects to play which could be a huge opportunity as the Hornets are one of the worst in the league at defending the three-pointer as well. Taking VanVleet over 4.5 threes might be too much, but taking his point total of over 20.5 or his pts+reb+ast total of over 31.5 at DraftKings should be a good bet in case Pascal Siakam goes off.
