Charlotte Hornets vs Toronto Raptors Analysis
The Hornets will play at the Raptors tonight in what should be a fun game as both teams are healthy with the game time decision with Hayward the only issue with a starter. The books give the edge to the Raptors as they are -3.5 point favorites with the total at 221.5, but Charlotte is the team coming in with a better short term winning streak. We’ll take a look at both teams and see if a bet emerges for us.
Hornets Flying
Charlotte is on a nice 7-2 run losing only to Atlanta and Orlando, and will be looking to rebound off a terrible shooting night on Sunday where they made four 3-pointers all game in a blowout loss to the Hawks. They are 7-3 against the spread their last 10 games, and 3-7 over/under in their last 10 so they’ve been trending as a good against the spread and under team recently.
Rozier and Bridges have been doing a lot of the scoring recently, and that should be a good matchup for them tonight as Toronto ranks bottom 10 in defending shooting guards and small forwards. The common denominator in their two losses is bad three point shooting as they were under 29% in both losses. When they hit their threes they have solid wins over teams like Philly, Boston and Milwaukee twice.
Toronto Downturn
Toronto won six games in a row, but they have struggled recently going 2-5 in their last seven. When looking at the numbers, their offense has come to a screeching halt as they’ve scored under 100 points in four out of seven games. In their six game win streak they scored 116 or more in five of them, but that haven’t reached near that total in seven straight.
VanVleet’s numbers have really come down as his shooting percentage was really high at the beginning of the month, but has regressed back to where he hasn’t scored 25 or more in seven straight. If Charlotte is hitting threes tonight it might be tough for Toronto to keep up if their scoring woes continue.

I see a bounce back for Toronto off a bad shooting night in their last game, and with Toronto’s scoring troubles I like getting +3.5 tonight so I’ll be playing the Hornets and the points tonight.

Charlotte Hornets vs Toronto Raptors Preview from GoldSheet
Raptors have been on a bit of downer of late, winning just 2 of their last seven games straight up, ranking 26th in offensive efficiency in that slide which clearly contributed to the team’s 7-1 “under” run recently. Charlotte has played Toronto very tough the last few seasons, going just 3-4 straight up in the last seven meetings, but covering seven of last eight against the Raptors.
The Hornets are coming off a 113-91 loss vs. Atlanta Sunday and HC James Borrego has apparently made the right adjustments and refocused his team recently, as Charlotte has bounced back with an 8-2 spread mark following the team’s last 10 straight up losses. Hornet G Terry Rozier and F Miles Bridges both scoring 22 ppg the last 10 games, while F Gordon Hayward starting to hit his shooting form (52% in his last 9 games) and will hopefully be ready after missing the last outing with a foot issue.
