Chicago Bulls vs LA Clippers Analysis
The Bulls play host to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night from the United Center in Chicago. Chicago won the first head-to-head meeting 100-90 in Los Angeles back in November.
The Clippers improved to 37-39 after storming back against the Utah Jazz and ultimately stealing a 121-115 victory. Meanwhile the Bulls beat the Washington Wizards 107-94, upping their record to 44-32. This is an important game for both teams in terms of playoff seeding.
The Return of King George
The Los Angeles Clippers are coming off an impressive comeback victory over the Utah Jazz after trailing 32-14 after the first quarter. They rallied to outscore Utah in every other quarter, including a 39-21 fourth quarter.
Paul George returned to action after missing three months with an elbow injury. As the game went on it became apparent that Paul George wasn’t going to be able to stick to a minutes restriction. George ended up willing his team to victory with 34 points in 31 minutes on the court.
The Clips currently occupy the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. If the season ended today, they would play Minnesota Timberwolves for the 7th seed. The Clippers don’t have anything worth mentioning on their injury report for tonight’s tilt.
Offense has been hard to come by for the Clips, as they rank 26th in scoring. Defense has held the team together as they rank 11th scoring defense with 108.4 points allowed per game to their rivals.
Bulls Are What We Thought They Were
The Chicago Bulls are coming off a back-and-forth game with the Washington Wizards where they wound up on top 107-94. Demar Derozan led the Bull rush with 32 points, while Nikola Vucevic added 27 points of his own.
They currently occupy the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference, 2.5 games behind the fourth-place Boston Celtics and 4.5 games behind the first-place Miami Heat. Zach Lavine is questionable for this game knee injury.
The Bulls have actually been slightly better recently when it comes to points allowed to their opponents, despite continuing to play without Lonzo Ball. Chicago has taken a major step back on offense. They rank 12th in scoring on the season with over 111 points a game, but dead last over their last ten games with only 104.5 points per game.
Chicago Bulls vs LA Clippers Prediction
The Bulls have owned the Clippers of late, going 4-1 against the spread in their last five head-to-head meetings. I think there is a solid chance that Paul George sits tonight or has a minutes restriction that is actually enforced.
The Bulls return home where they are far superior as home favorites, a role where they are 20-7 against the spread. I see this as a major get right spot for the Bulls and I’m backing them here at a very affordable point spread at home.
