Cleveland Cavaliers vs Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis
The Phoenix Suns travel to Cleveland for an interconference showdown with the Cavaliers on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers are coming off a 145-134 victory in an overtime thriller against the Chicago Bulls. The Suns lost their 6th game in seven tries 102-83 against the New York Knicks.
This is the first of two regular season meetings as these teams meet again this coming Sunday in Phoenix. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PST from Quicken Loans Arena.
Spida Scores 71 In Cavs OT Win
The Cleveland Cavaliers improved to 24-14 on the season after beating the Bulls in overtime on Monday night. Donovan “Spida” Mitchell poured in a career high 71 points along with 11 assists and 8 rebounds.
Jarrett Allen chipped in with 21 points while Kevin Love recorded a 12 point, 17 rebound double-double. The Cavs had an edge in three-point shooting as they went 16-46 for 34.8% compared to the Bulls going 10-33 30.3%.
Defense is what Cleveland is built on as they are #1 in defensive rating and scoring with only 106.9 points allowed per game. The offense hasn’t been nearly as consistent as they rank 21st with only 112.1 points a game.
Evan Mobley (ankle) is questionable for this contest while Darius Garland is doubtful with a thumb injury. Dean Wade and Ricky Rubio have both already been ruled out.
Suns Fading
The Phoenix Suns record dropped to 20-18 on the season after losing a third straight game in New York on Monday afternoon. The Knicks had a tremendous advantage down low where they won the rebounding battle 45-36 and outscored Phoenix 36-28 in the paint.
The leading Suns scorer was De’Andre Ayton with only 12 points. Next was Chris Paul with only 11 points, no Phoenix player recorded double digit rebounds or assists. The Suns are middle of the pack in scoring at 15th with 114.2 points per game.
Their defense has dipped down to 13th in defensive rating and 11th in scoring with 111.7 points allowed per game. The only players listed on the Phoenix injury report are Devin Booker and Cameron Johnson who have both been ruled out for this contest.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Phoenix Suns Player Prop Prediction
The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently favored by 5 points with a total set at 217. We have the classic two teams heading in completely opposite directions with the Cavs winning 7 of their last 10 games and the Suns losing 6 of their last 7 games.
The Suns have been absolutely horrendous without Booker on the court. The Cleveland Cavaliers have a dominant defense that is great in the paint and on the perimeter.
The one place to score is mid-range and that’s where Chris Paul does his scoring. Paul has a point total set at 15.5 and he has scored an average of 15.4 points while scoring 15+ points in 8 of 14 games since his return. In the prior five games he fell short, he bounced back with a 15+ point performance in the very next game.
In Chris Paul’s last three games against Cleveland he has scored 23, 17 & 16 points. Those were scored with Booker on the floor and averaging 31+ points per game.
No Booker tonight and Ayton will be neutralized as a scorer with Allen defending him. Let’s back CP3 to bounce back again tonight as his team needs a scorer against a tough defense.
