Clippers vs Warriors Analysis
The Golden State Warriors head to Los Angeles for a Western Conference clash with the Clippers on the second game of an NBA TV doubleheader. The Clippers have lost four of their last six games, while allowing more than 120 points in three of those games. The Warriors won a shootout over Lakers on Saturday to snap a two game mini slide.
Golden State has won both head-to-head meetings, 115-113 at home during the first week of the season and 105-90 in LA at the end of November.
CLIPPERS vs WARRIORS TEAM TOTALS
A high scoring game is projected as the Warriors team total is 113.5, while the Clippers team total is 107.5. The Warriors have cleared 113 points in six their last nine games. They rank 12th in scoring with just over 112 points a game and 3rd in scoring defense with 103.2 points allowed to their opponents.
The Clippers’ offense ranks poorly at 25th with only 106 points a game and 13th in points scored with almost 108 points a game. Lately the Warriors have been winning shootouts as opposed to relying on their defense. With the All-Star break right around the corner I would expect more of the same.
Team Total Play: Golden State Warriors’ Team Total OVER 113.5 Points
CLIPPERS vs WARRIORS PLAYER PROPS
We have seen a decline in production recently from Steph Curry. His scoring has went down since Draymond Green was injured and Klay Thompson is now taking his fair share of shots as well. It’s to the point where we get a bargain on his points prop at 22.5. He has cleared that number in four of his last eight games, including scoring 24 & 35 in his past two games.
The Clippers allow 23.89 to opposing point guards, which is 6th most in the NBA. Curry is a big part of that total as he has scored 33 and 45 against them this season. All we need is 23 here and we know he will get plenty of shots.
Player Prop Play: Steph Curry OVER 22.5 Points
CLIPPERS vs WARRIORS SAME-GAME PARLAY
So we already covered Curry, but we will lower his total to 20.5 for the parlay. Kevon Looney has had 6 or more rebounds in 7 of his last 8 games. The Clippers don’t have much for size and allow 16.18 rebounds a game to opposing centers, 8th most in the league. We will add Looney over 5.5 rebounds. Thompson has been hot recently and hit three or more three-pointers in his last four games. We will ask him to hit 2 here to sweeten the pot.
Clippers vs Warriors Same-Game Parlay (+120 Odds):
- Curry OVER 20.5 Points
- Looney OVER 5.5 Rebounds
- Thompson OVER 1.5 Three-pointers
Clippers vs Warriors Preview from GoldSheet
Golden State has won both meetings with Los Angeles this season, and the Warriors have generally enjoyed their visits to Staples/Crypto.com Arena the last few seasons, winning 12 of last 15 straight-up and sporting a 11-4 pointspread mark.
Warriors have been a bit on the wobbly side the last ten days, going 3-2 straight-up and 0-5 vs. the points since winning at San Antonio on Feb. 1. Right now the Clippers aren’t playing particularly well despite beating Dallas on Saturday night. LA had lost four of their previous five games and lost five in a row against the number prior to hitting the release valve and netting a win over at the Mavs.
The Clipper defense has failed HC Ty Lue, as they rank 27th in defensive efficiency, allowing 121 points per 100 opponents’ ratings over the last five games. With Klay Thompson getting the hot had of late (51% FGs his last 4 games), and Curry pulling out of his shooting dip, prefer the shooters against a Clip D yielding 118 ppg and 49% FGs in the last ten days.
