- The under has cashed in each of Dallas’ last five games.
Luka Doncic will be out for this game with a sore ankle, but that hasn’t stopped the Mavericks from winning two games in a row by 19 against OKC and 24 against Charlotte, and the previous nine games with Luka the Mavericks are 3-6. I’m wondering if his being out of shape is having a much bigger affect than most would think on this team. The Lakers have won three out of four with the loss being against Memphis, a team nobody wants to play right now.
The Lakers have their issues with Westbrook as they have been well documented everywhere, and they are very dependent on Lebron as evident by him leading them in points, rebounds and assists last game. Davis has been hit or miss this year, and is one of the worst shooters from mid-range and out and is constantly battling injuries.
The contributions from the role players are spotty at best as Carmelo and Horton-Tucker can have their moments, but the rest of the team cannot be depended on. In each of the last three games for the Lakers, one of the teams in each game has scored 95 points or lower, so we’re looking at low scoring games. The lack of scoring for the Lakers may be troublesome for their fans, but I think this can make us some money tonight.
I am not ready to declare this a fact yet, but Dallas sure seems to not miss Luka when he’s been out this season. When he’s not there Porzingis miraculously picks up his production, and Luka’s lack of cardio seems to really hurt him as he struggles as the game progresses into later minutes.
Dallas is last in pace of play, and in their last three wins they’ve held their opponents to 96 or fewer points. They’re playing good defense, they have the lowest pace of play in the league, and they’re playing a team who is the 10th lowest scoring team in the league the last 3 games…see where we’re going with this?
I’m taking the under without question. Dallas is 5-0 to the under their last five games and the Lakers are 4-1 to the under their last five games. Both teams are trending hard to the under, and I’m excited to jump on board the under train with them.

With PG Luka Doncic ruled out of action for this game, and although backup PG Jalen Brunson has done some good things (15.5 ppg, 8.5 apg and 2.5 rpg in L2Gs subbing for Luka), he’s not close to touching the impact Doncic would have facing Russell Westbrook and LeBron James. James has led the Lakers to a 7-4 mark in their last 11 games, scoring 30 points or more in 7 of those, and he’s coming off a 30-11-10 triple double. Lakers have had two full days off since beating Orlando Sunday, which might give Anthony Davis (who hasn’t played since last Thursday) enough time to get well enough to give it a go.
