Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Clippers Analysis
The Denver Nuggets play host to the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night at Ball Arena. The Clippers won a shootout at home over the Indiana Pacers by a final score of 139-133 on MLK Day. Meanwhile the Nuggets got blown out at home 125-102 against the Utah Jazz. These teams split their first two head-to-head meetings with both games being played in Los Angeles. They will meet for a fourth and final time in late March.
Clippers Begin Eight Game Road Trip
The Los Angeles Clippers begin a season long eight game road trip as they will head east after playing Denver on Wednesday night. The Clippers are coming off a victory in a high scoring affair against the Indiana Pacers, a big reason for the victory was the Clips shooting over 50% from beyond the arc. Nicholas Batum led the team with 32 points in 36 minutes of action. After the win the Clippers sit one game below .500 at 22-23. Through the first 26 games of the season Paul George led the team in scoring with 24.7 points per game. In his absence both Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris Sr have each averaged over 16 points a game. Los Angeles ranks 26th in points scored with 104.9 points a game and 10th in points allowed with 106 per game.
Nuggets Smothered By Jazz
The Denver Nuggets fell to 22-20 after a 23 point home loss against the Utah Jazz. Denver trailed by just three points entering the 4th quarter but were run out of the gym as Utah went on a 34-14 run. The Nuggs currently sit at 6th place in the Western Conference. The Nuggets are 2-1 on their current six game homestand. The Nuggets have benefited from another outstanding season by Nikola Jokic, who has averaged 25.3 points and 14 rebounds a game. However no team has been hit as hard with major injuries including Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr amongst others. Denver is 23rd in points scored with 107 per game and 9th in points allowed with 105.9 points to their rivals.
Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Clippers Prediction
The Denver Nuggets are eight point home favorites with a total of 213. In their last head-to-head meeting the Nuggets blew a 25 point to ultimately lose 87-85 in Los Angeles. Both Denver and LA rank in the top 10 in points allowed and bottom 10 in points scored. These teams have combined for 203 and 173 in their first two matchups. The Clippers have a 19-26 over/under record while Denver is 22-20. The Clippers will also have to adjust to the altitude in Denver which slow their pace. Speaking of pace these teams play rank 15th and 24th in pace of play on the season. All signs point to the under tonight at Ball Arena.

Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview from GoldSheet
The Clippers couldn’t just relax and take an easy win against an Indiana team without the services of C Myles Turner and PG Malcolm Brogdon on Monday. Instead, Ty Lue’s team ran out to a 15-point 2nd quarter lead then quickly allowing the Pacers to close to within two, stretching the differential out again in the 3rd quarter to 19 and then giving most of that back, with Indy closing to a 3-point margin with 31.3 seconds left. Shouldn’t that have been easier for LA? Where has the offense that generated 139 pts. and shot 55% vs. the Pacers been?
Nico Batum scored 32 points for the Clips. The last time he scored 30+ was April of 2017 season, but doubt Denver leaves him untended as the Jazz did on Monday. A problem the Clips have been having is on the boards, as they’ve been outrebounded 52-42 over their last 10 games, while Denver has been out-boarding foes by more than six per game in the last 10 and by 9.2 per game over the last five and rank 28th in rebound percentage over the last 8 games. Nugget star Nikola Jokic has averaged 24 ppg and 14 rpg over his last nine and will be trouble for LA Cs Ivaca Zubac and recently returned Isaiah Hartenstein. Clips have slowed the pace recently and Denver has been playing deliberately for the last 3+ seasons.
