Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls Analysis

The Chicago Bulls come in search of “Pizza!, Pizza!” at Little Caesers Arena in Detroit against the Pistons. In all seriousness, we come in search of “Prop Profits” when the Bulls play in Detroit on Wednesday night.

The Bulls have fallen on hard times as they have lost five straight games. The Pistons have been the opposite, as the entirety of the season has been tough sledding outside of winning six of their last eight games.

The Bulls have dominated the Pistons, winning all three head-to-head meetings. They won 94-88 and 97-82 in the first two games of the season and 133-87 in early January.

Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls Team Totals

The Chicago Bulls are favored by six points with a total of 227.5 points, which sets their team at 117.5 and the Pistons at 111.5 points.

The Bulls did a great job earlier in the season limiting the Pistons to under 90 points in all three head-to-head matchups. However this Bulls defense just isn’t the same without Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso. Chicago has allowed 112 points or more in five-straight and six of their last seven games.

While the Pistons haven’t been world beaters, they have improved offensively. The Pistons have eclipsed 111 points in three of their last five games while landing 108 and 111 exactly in the other two games.

The Bulls should put up plenty of points which should raise the bar for the Pistons scoring. We will take a shot with the over on Detroit’s team total.

Recommendation: Detroit Pistons’ Team Total Over 111.5 Points

Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls Player Props

One obvious direction to look could be DeMar DeRozan points. He had been in an insane groove with his scoring. However all good things come to an end, his point total is 28.5 and he has fallen short of that in three of his last four games. Not saying I would go under, but there are much more intriguing options.

A spot I like is Cade Cunningham over 31.5 points + rebounds + assists, a total he has hit in four straight and five of his last six games with 30 in the game he fell short. The Bulls allow the fourth-most points and sixth-most assists to opposing point guards and we mentioned their struggles without Ball and Caruso. I love the Cunningham play, however I got another player prop that’s even more enticing.

The Bulls have been getting torched in the paint as they allow fourth-most points in the paint over the last 15 games and sixth-most on the season. Isaiah Stewart went down with a knee injury last game and Marvin Bagley III took full advantage. Bagley played a season high 36 minutes while scoring 19 points and snagging 10 rebounds. Bagley had been in a little groove prior to that, scoring 14 points or more in four straight games. It’s possible Kelly Olynyk still starts but Bagley’s minutes are a great sign regardless.

It’s possible that Nikola Vucevic is out for this game, but I don’t think it matters as neither him or Tristan Thompson scare you as a defender. If it’s Vuc, Bagley points has more value and if it’s Thompson his rebounds should increase. Either way I’m more than comfortable taking over 22.5 points + rebounds for Bagley. *If you can’t get points + rebounds, add assists it should only add one to the total number.

Recommendation: Marvin Bagley III Over 22.5 Points + Rebounds

Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls Same-Game Parlay

  • Cade Cunningham 25+ Pts+Rebs+Asts
  • Marvin Bagley III 20+ Pts+Rebs
  • Demar Derozan 20+ Points
  • Zach Lavine 2+ Three-pointers
    +115 Odds

So we’ve already extensively covered Cade Cunningham and Marvin Bagley III above. They will be included in the same game parlay with Cunningham’s points + rebounds + assists lowered to 25 and Bagley’s points + rebounds lowered to 20.

DeRozan is a shoe-in for 20 points so that will be our third leg. Zach Lavine has hit two three-pointers or more in seven-straight and 13 of his last 14 games. Lavine over 1.5 three-pointers will be our fourth and final leg to get +115 odds.
