Detroit Pistons vs Washington Wizards Analysis

On Friday night, the struggling Wizards travel to Detroit to take on Cade Cunningham and the lowly Pistons.

The Pistons are mathematically eliminated from any post-season birth and the Wizards, while still alive, are on their way to join them.

This is the fourth and final matchup between these two teams this season. The Wizards have won all three previous meetings, but they are just 1-1-1 against the spread.

The Wizards were favorites in all three previous matchups, but in this contest, the Pistons are 3.5 point favorites and the total is set at 221.

Pistons Playing Average Since All-Star Break

While the Pistons have no chance of playing postseason basketball this season, the Pistons have done a good job improving over the last two months of the season.

While it’s nothing to write home about, the Pistons are 4-6 in their last 10 games and have averaged 111.5 points per game while holding their opponents to 110.8.

The Pistons are 12-24 on their home floor and are just 2-2 against the spread as a home favorite.

Wizards Wasting Season Away

Over the last month, the Wizards are arguably the coldest team in the NBA. The Wizards are 2-8 in their last 10 games and have allowed opponents to average 118.8 points per game.

If Kyle Kuzma is out again tonight, the Wizards have no other player who gives them consistent offense. Washington is 12-24 on the road this season and is 10-15 against the spread as a road underdog.

Detroit Pistons vs Washington Wizards Prediction

I recommend taking the Pistons -3.5. The Pistons have only been home favorites four times this season, and I think this is a game that is priced appropriately.

The Pistons have a young roster that plays hard and is looking to build momentum for next season. On the other hand, the Wizards are trending in the complete opposite direction and are playing their worst basketball of the season.

I do not see the Wizards sweeping this season series, so I think the Pistons win and cover tonight.

Prediction: Detroit Pistons -3.5
