Expert Player Props for Thursday: Naz Reid, Timberwolves Over 12.5 Points (-105)

Naz Reid has an ideal matchup tonight against a Memphis Grizzlies team that he’s scored 19+ points against in four straight games including 29- and 19-point efforts this season.

The Grizzlies love to pack the paint and they double team Anthony Edwards which leaves wide open looks for players like Reid.

Reid scores 30% of his points on spot-up jumpers and Memphis has allowed the 3rd most catch & shoot field goal attempts on the 2nd highest frequency in four games since Taylor Jenkins was fired.

On the season, the Grizzlies have allowed the 10th most points, and 6th most three-pointers to opposing centers. Zach Edey has seen a larger role under the new regime so Reid’s size will be needed to contain Jaren Jackson Jr who is also notorious for foul trouble.

This is playoff type environment with both teams fighting for postseason positioning and we cashed several tickets on Reid overs during the 2024 playoffs.

Reid has played 24+ in almost every game outside of blowouts but I could see him approaching 30+ minutes tonight which will give him ample opportunity to clear this line. 

Expert Player Props for Thursday: Ja Morant, Grizzlies Over 6.5 Assists (-114)

Ja Morant has insane home/road splits when it comes to assists as he’s cleared this line in 74% of his home games while averaging 8 assists on 12.7 potential assists compared to a 43% success rate with an average of only 6.5 assists on 11.8 potential assists on the road.

Morant averaged 6.4 assists on 12.4 potential assists in three games since Taylor Jenkins was fired but if you take away the brutal matchup against the Miami Heat, he’s averaged 14 potential assists.

Now he’s facing a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has allowed the 4th fewest points but 9th most assists to opposing point guards during the last 30 days.

Morant has recorded 4 and 7 assists (11 potential assists) against Minnesota this season but the 7 came at home where he’s covered this line in eight straight games against the T-wolves.

Jaylen Wells is out for the season after that scary situation on Tuesday night and Morant’s assists numbers are projected to increase regardless the new rotation.

Minnesota has strong on-ball defenders that are going to force Morant to be more of a facilitator as opposed to a scorer.
