Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets Analysis
Denver travels to Golden State to take on the Warriors as these teams will turn around and meet again on Thursday in Denver, so both teams will be looking to get up a game on the other tonight. Denver looks to have a more full roster of starters tonight than Golden State, but the Warriors still have that dangerous man Steph Curry who has been on fire recently.
The Warriors are a 7.5-point home tonight with a total of 217.5 so let’s dive in and see what the Gambling Gods have in store for us tonight.
The Warriors have been rotating players in and out of lineups, but they’ve done a nice job navigating this stretch as they’re 8-2 in their last 10 and Curry has scored 30 or more in the last four games he’s played in. They also are coming off a very impressive win on Christmas against a full Phoenix team, and will have three days rest for tonight’s game.
Kuminga will play meaningful minutes and has done a nice job when given the chance, but for Golden State it will be interesting to see how Looney can match up against Jokic and can he give any resistance to the MVP. He was able to play well against Ayton on Sunday and actually out rebounded him so Golden State would be extremely happy to see a similar performance tonight.
The defense of Golden State continues to be their strong point as they’ve allowed 107 or less in their last 17 wins with nine of those opponents being held under 100 points.
The Nuggets have not looked great the last few games as they lost to OKC and Charlotte, and then struggled to beat a Clippers team who was playing without Paul George and Reggie Jackson. The last three games have been a bit confusing as Denver has had a majority of their team available, but the players outside of Jokic have not been stepping up. In the last three games for Denver only one player outside of Jokic has scored over 15 points, and against Golden State that won’t get it done.
Pace of play should be interesting tonight as Golden State is top 10 in fastest pace while Denver is 20th. Golden State is 8-2 ATS their last 10 games while Denver is 1-4 ATS their last five games, and one of the ATS losses for Golden State was the game against Toronto where they sat all starters. Denver has been clunky, and Golden State feasts on teams not clicking.
If Golden State can beat Phoenix by margin without Poole, Greene and Wiggins, I’ll take them off of a few days rest to get it done at home and continue their solid ATS run while handing Denver another ML and ATS loss.
OFFICIAL PLAY: Warriors -7.5

Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets Preview from GoldSheet
First, an obligatory omicron update, with protocols having Draymond Green, Damion Lee, Andrew Wiggins, and Jordan Poole sidelined as of Monday, with James Wiseman (knee) still out and Andre Iguodala (knee) doubtful on the Warriors side. For the moment, protocols have spared the Nuggets, but Aaron Gordon (hamstring) is iffy, and injuries have already taken Jamal Murray and Michael Porter, Jr. out of the lineup for the long term.
We’ll see if the NBA’s new policy, shortening quarantines from 10 to 6 days, helps get some of the players back in action more quickly. Golden State has been winning regardless lately, three straight and six of seven (covers in last three as well), and it’s not just Steph Curry, as Otto Porter, Jr. continues as a most-pleasant surprise, spearheading the league’s top-ranked bench and making the clutch shots to help take down the Suns on Christmas.
The Warriors have also beaten Denver in six of the last eight matchups partly because the tag-team of Draymond and Kevon Looney have combined to slow down Nikola Jokic, who has scored well under his average at barely 18 ppg in those last eight matchups; Looney will have to do much of that heavy-lifting tonight with Green out. These teams will meet again two nights at Ball Arena.
