Golden State Warriors vs LA Lakers Analysis

The Golden State Warriors play host to the uninspired Los Angeles Lakers on the late game featured on TNT.

The Lakers are now officially eliminated from post-season play after being beaten 121-110 by the Phoenix Suns. The Warriors are still clinging to the three seed after a 109-90 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

Los Angeles will be looking to split the regular season series. The Lakers won 124-116 at home in the most recent head-to-head game. While the Warriors won 117-115 at home and 121-114 on the road.

No Playoffs For Lakers

At 31-48 the Los Angeles Lakers are eliminated from the playoffs after losing seven straight games. Russell Westbrook led the team in scoring with 28 points in their latest loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Anthony Davis added a 21 point 13 rebound double double. LeBron James missed his second straight game with a sprained ankle. It looks like he will be shutdown for the season at this point.

There is speculation that Frank Vogel could be fired and the Lakers could field offers for James and/or Anthony Davis.

All three veterans (James, Davis and Westbrook) are listed as questionable for this contest. The Lakers defense has been their achilles heel, ranking 26th with 114.8 points allowed per game to their opponents.

Warriors Wait On Chef Curry

The Golden State Warriors are now aiming for a deep post-season run. After winning their last two games they sit at 50-29 only a half game lead over the Dallas Mavericks.

Reports say that Steph Curry is expected to have his left foot sprain re-evaluated in a week. It seems like he will miss the remainder of the regular season and be ready for the first round of the post-season.

Andrew Wiggins paced the Warriors with 25 points in their latest victory over the Kings. Outside of Curry the only player listed on the injury report is Otto Porter Jr. who is listed as questionable.

While the Warriors are middle of the pack in scoring, they are the 5th ranked defense, only allowing 105 points a game to their opponents.

Golden State Warriors vs LA Lakers Prediction

The Golden State Warriors enter this game as 13 point favorites with a total set at 220.5. Neither team will push the pace here as both will be missing their spark plugs.

This spread is ridiculously large, but you won’t catch me backing the Lakers anytime soon. Both teams have been middle of the pack in scoring and the Lakers won’t come close to their season average without James and company. Let’s make a small play on the under.

Prediction: Under 220.5
