Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers Betting Analysis
The Golden State Warriors play host to the Los Angeles Lakers for Game 2 of their Western Conference Semifinals series on Thursday night.
The Lakers led by 14 points with less than six minutes to go in Game 1 and survived a 14-0 Warriors run to ultimately win 117-112.
The Warriors know this a crucial game as they simply cannot go to Los Angeles down 2-0. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PST from the Oracle in Oakland, CA.
Warriors Need A Bounce Back
The Golden State Warriors were coming off a brutal seven game series against the Sacramento Kings that ended on Sunday, so it wasn’t a surprise that they struggled on Tuesday night.
Steph Curry led the team in scoring with 27 points while Klay Thompson was right behind him with 25 points of his own.
Kevon Looney recorded his 4th 20+ rebound game of the post-season with an impressive 23 boards while Jordan Poole chipped in with 21 points off the bench.
The Warriors are dealing with a major size disadvantage and decided to fire away from the perimeter, going 21-53 (40%) from beyond the arc.
Golden State held a +45 point differential from long distance but the Lakers made up for it with a +20 edge from the charity stripe.
The Warriors rank 6th in playoff scoring with 115.4 points per game and 9th in defensive scoring with 114.1 points allowed per game. Andre Iguodala, Patrick Baldwin Jr and Ryan Rollins have all been ruled out for Golden State, but none of them were playing significant minutes.
Lakers Look Confident
The Los Angeles Lakers took advantage of a favorable rest spot as they wrapped up their first round series on Friday night while the Dubs were pushed to play Game 7 on Sunday against the Kings.
Anthony Davis led all scorers while tying Looney in rebounds with a 30 point, 23 rebound double-double. Lebron James also posted a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds D’Angelo Russell chipped in with 19 points and 6 assists.
The Lakers held the 2nd ranked three-point shooting defense during the season and survived the onslaught of 53 three-point attempts from Golden State.
LA ranks 10th in post-season scoring with 112.9 points per game while ranking 6th in defensive scoring with only 105.7 points allowed per game.
Mo Bamba is the only player listed on the Lakers injury report you could take seriously as he is listed questionable with an ankle injury. Lebron James and AD both show up as probable but I can’t imagine either player missing this one.
Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction
The Golden State Warriors are 6 point home favorites with a total set at 227.5. The Lakers are going to be hard pressed to go up 2-0 in the series on the road as it’s a quick turn around and AD & James both topped 40 minutes on Tuesday.
Los Angeles was expected to have a tremendous advantage in the frontcourt but with that could be neutralized with the way Looney has been playing. I’m also fully expecting Steve Kerr to make adjustments around slowing down Anthony Davis in the paint.
The Warriors have the edge in depth and that will be too much for Los Angeles to overcome. The Warriors are also 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a straight up loss.
They have also been dominant at the Oracle with a 28-16-1 ATS record and I’m fully expecting a laser focused effort on Thursday night.
