Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz Analysis
After a short Thanksgiving break, the Utah Jazz visit Oracle Arena for a Western Conference showdown with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors easily defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 124-0107 on Wednesday night.
The Jazz are coming off a 125-116 disappointment at home against the Detroit Pistons. This is the first of three games in a season series that Golden State dominated 3-1 last season. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST.
Warriors Look To Make It Eight Straight At Home
The Golden State Warriors improved to 9-10 on the season after handling their business at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. It was their 7th straight home victory and third win in their last four games overall.
Andrew Wiggins led all scorers with 31 points on 12 of 18 from the field and 6 from 10 from long distance. Steph Curry added 22 points while collecting 9 assists and 6 rebounds. The Warriors offense ranks 13th in the league in scoring with 112.7 points a game on 47.6% from the field and 37.6% from beyond the arc.
Their defense has been a weakness as they rank 27th with 117.4 points allowed per game. Outside of Andre Iguodala, (who has yet to play this season) the Warriors sport a clean injury report.
Jazz Fading Fast
The Utah Jazz currently sit at 12-8 on the season despite most predicting them to be tanking for Wembanyama this season. However, water may be finding it’s level as they have lost five of their last seven games including a 125-116 embarrassment against the lowly Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
Malik Beasley led all scorers with 29 points of the bench on 8 of 15 from three-point land. Jordan Clarkson added 24 points of his own while Colin Sexton recorded a 17 point 12 assist double-double.
The Jazz were outscored 52-42 in paint and forced only seven turnovers. The Jazz have relied solely on their offense that ranks 4th in scoring with 117.4 points per game while ranking 8th at 37.4% from long distance.
Defense has been a different story as they rank 23rd with over 115 points allowed per game. Rudy Gay will remain out for at least a few more weeks with a finger injury while Mike Conley is questionable after missing Wednesdays contest with the Pistons.
Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz Player Prop Prediction
The Golden State Warriors are 7 point home favorites with an extremely high total of 240. This game should be defense optional for the most part with a total of 240 and neither team making it a priority.
Lauri Markkanen deserves a ton of credit for the Jazz success as he has averaged career highs across the board, including points with 22 per game. A big part of that has been the Jazz floor spacing allowing him to shoot 73% at the rim.
Having Markkanen and Kelly Olynyk has made it difficult for most teams to play a traditional center against them. That won’t be the case on Friday night as the one aspect where the Warriors defense thrives is at the rim.
Kevon Looney and Draymond Green are outstanding at defending the rim as they allow 27% shooting while holding opponents to the least attempts in the league. This will take away the easy opportunities for Markkanen and force others to get involved from a scoring aspect.
