Hawks vs Cavaliers Analysis
Cleveland travels to Atlanta for their last game before the All-Star break in a great game in the Eastern Conference, and the Cavs are a short -1.5 favorite with a total of 219.5. Atlanta is stumbling into the All-Star break while Cleveland is 8-3 their last 11 so we’re going to dive into this game and find the best way to profit off of it.
HAWKS UP AND DOWN
The first half of the season has been so streaky for Atlanta, it’s crazy. Just recently they won seven in a row only to go 2-7 their next seven games with a 1-4 ATS record their last five. Trae Young has been playing well, but this will be a welcome break for him to rest his hurt shoulder, and John Collins has been ruled out til after the break with a foot injury. The only win they have in their last five games is against the lowly Pacers, and their last four losses have been by nine or more points including getting blown out by San Antonio.
I don’t like the feel of this team, and this seems like a tricky spot for them as they play at home against Cleveland and then tomorrow night at Orlando. They may just be looking forward to the break and if so, they’ll lose tonight easily.
CAVALIERS’ INCREDIBLE FIRST HALF
What a first half of the season for Cleveland. They lost Garland and Rubio, and gained Levert…they have a rookie that is on his way to be a cornerstone of the franchise for a decade, and went 33-20 ATS in the process. Tonight will be an interesting game as they’ve won four out of five, but their four wins were against suspect teams and they just lost by 10 to Philadelphia. I’m not too worried about the loss to the 76ers though as Embiid went ballistic on them going for 40 points including 14-15 from the free throw line, and Cleveland went 8-24 from threes.
They should have an advantage inside as Collins is out and Capela’s production has fallen off. He’s been decent rebounding, but he hasn’t been scoring and I see Allen and Mobley controlling the paint tonight.
HAWKS vs CAVALIERS PREDICTION
I don’t like what I’m seeing from Atlanta, and I think this is a spot where they get lazy for two games before the All-Star break. Cleveland has been solid this entire season, and without Collins the Cavs have the advantage inside. Look for Mobley and Allen to cause a lot of problems for Atlanta and Garland to lead Cleveland to a win as they close out the first part of the year.

Hawks vs Cavaliers Preview from GoldSheet
Cleveland sixth man Kevin Love, who’s hit a rich vein of form the last few weeks, will enjoy seeing Atlanta uniforms after scoring 23.5 ppg, grabbing 8.5 rpg and shooting 52% (47% on treys) against the Hawks as these two split a pair this season, both played in Cleveland, with the Cavs taking a 101-95 decision back on Oct. 23, then Atlanta bounced back 121-118 on New Year’s Eve.
Cav Rookie Evan Mobley likewise took control, at 16.5 ppg, 11 rpg and shooting 62.5% in the first two encounters. Cleveland has covered four of last five and despite hitting lull in January, BJ Bickerstaff’s Cavs remain one of the top pointspread teams in the league (and a 57% winning mark on the road) make it attractive. The Hawks are 1-4 straight-up and against the number over their last 5 games, with the Atlanta defense ranking 25th in the league in that span.
