Heat vs Pelicans Analysis

Lines provided by Draft Kings

The Miami Heat won their third straight game in dominant fashion 121-100 over the Beal-less Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. The Heat are now 3-2 on this current road trip as they prepare for their 6th and final game before returning home.

The New Orleans Pelicans have now won four straight games after handling their business at home in a 110-97 victory over the Houston Rockets. The win over Houston was the first game of a six game home stand.

We will be looking at this showdown strictly through a player and game prop lense. Both teams are loaded with intriguing options and the Pels added another, as it looks like CJ Mccollum will make his debut with the team after being traded from the Portland Trailblazers.

Team Prop Totals

This game features some mid-range team totals with the Heat at 111.5 and the Pels 107.5. Back in November, the Heat prevailed over the Pelicans 113-98, despite playing without Bam Adebayo. Miami plays a smothering defense as they only allow 104.4 points a game.

New Orleans ranks 26th in scoring with only 105.9 points scored per game. The Pelicans have won four straight games, while scoring 110 points or more in each game.

Looking at their opponents it’s not that impressive, two games against the leagues worst defense in the Houston Rockets, the Pistons 25th ranked defense and a short-handed Denver Nuggets team.

The Pelicans are going to add CJ Mccollum to the mix tonight. Sometimes when you add new players to an offense they will struggle continuity and the offense ends up being flat. Their are plenty of reasons to roll with a Pelicans team total under in this one.

Team Prop Total: New Orleans Pelicans under 107.5

Player Prop Totals

I would recommend staying away from New Orleans Pelicans player props for a game or two. It’s yet to be seen how adding Mccollum to the mix will effect the other players roles.

So my attention shifts to the Heat… Butler?…Bam?..one of their elite three-point shooters?..Nope!…. it’s PJ Tucker. When looking through game logs, Tuckers dip in minutes and production stand out like a sore thumb.

On the season, Tucker averages over 28 minutes a game. Over the last three games he has played 24 minutes twice and 23 minutes in the other game. More alarming, he averages 6.3 shots per game and has taken only 10 shots total in his last three games.

On top of that, the Pelicans allow the least points and third least assists per game to opposing power fowards. It’s a low number, but we will be backing Tuckers points + rebounds + assists under at 13.5.

Player Prop Prediction: PJ Tucker under 13.5 points+rebounds+assists

Heat vs PelicansSame Game Parlay

We already covered PJ Tucker, for the same game parlay we will use under 8.5 points. Jimmy Butler has scored more than 17 points in 6 of his last 8 games, while landing on 16 & 17 in the other two.

He gets to the line so often that over 17.5 points should be pretty easy. To increase the value we will add Duncan Robinson 2+ three-pointers, he’s hit two or more in nine of his last 11 games. Add all three together its +150 odds.

Same Game Parlay Play:
PJ Tucker under 8.5 Points
Jimmy Butler 18+ Points
Duncan Robinson 2+ three-pointers
+150
