Indiana Pacers vs Los Angeles Lakers Predictions

  • Indiana Pacers -3 vs Los Angeles Lakers
  • Total: 217.5 Points
  • Indiana is 8-1 straight-up in their last nine home games vs Los Angeles.
  • The Lakers are 6-13 against the spread this season.

The 9-9 Los Angeles Lakers continue their East Coast road trip with a matchup against the 8-11 Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening. The Lakers will be playing the 2nd game of a back-to-back after losing in New York against the Knicks to the tune of 106-100. The Pacers dismantled the Chicago Bulls 109-77 in their most recent contest on Monday night.

These teams have yet to square off this season, however the Lakers won both meetings last season by scores of 105-100 and 122-115. Los Angeles has the worst against the spread record in the league at 6-13 while going 2-5 ATS on the road. Indiana is 10-9 ATS overall while posting a 5-2 ATS record at home. The NBA has a day off for Thanksgiving on Thursday, so we do have some question marks as to if these teams will rest players or go all out and work up an appetite.

The Lakers lost to the Knicks on Tuesday night after storming back 121-116 against the Pistons in an interesting game to say the least. Lebron James missed the game in New York as he served a one game suspension for his altercation with Isaiah Stewart of Detroit.

The Lakers offense has been far superior to their defense as they rank 6th in the league in scoring offense with 109.9 points a game. They are also 13th in rebounding with 45.8 second opportunities a game. The Los Angeles defense has been horrendous allowing 113.4 points a game good for 29th in the association. If the Lakers can stay healthy they should improve defensively and once again be contenders in the post-season.

The Pacers cruised past the Chicago Bulls in their last game, however they still sit 6.5 games behind them in the division. Indiana is 16th in scoring offense with an average of 107.3 points per game. They actually average the same amount of rebounds per game as the Lakers with 45.8 good for 12th in the association. They allow an average of 105.3 points a game, which ranks them 12th in scoring defense.

The Pacers have a very talented roster between Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner amongst others, however they are a tough team to figure out. Over their most recent handful of games they have impressive wins over teams like the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls, while managing to lose games to the likes of the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets.

The Lakers will be playing the second of a back-to-back and while Lebron James didn’t play, they may still opt to rest some of their aging veterans. Los Angeles has had their struggles on the road and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Pacers have been better of late and could have some momentum after destroying the Bulls. This game is a tough call, but we’ll be backing the Indiana Pacers on what seems to be a short spread at home.

Domantas Sabonis has been playing lights out for the Pacers with an average of 18.3 points a game while shooting 58% from the field. The Lakers are allowing the 3rd most points to opposing power fowards with an average of 22.44 points a game. The points prop for Sabonis was set at 16.5 last game, which is a total I’m comfortable taking an over on.

Official Play: Indiana Pacers -3
Official Prop: Sabonis OVER 16.5 points

Indiana Pacers vs Los Angeles Lakers Analysis from The GoldSheet

The Lakers, who’ve sunk to the very bottom of the pointspread standings this season at 6-13, are coming off a 106-100 non-cover loss in New York against the Knicks last night, and they haven’t fared well playing the second night of back-to-back games. The only real upside for LA is the fact that LeBron James will return from his one-game suspension (the one and only suspension in his career). That’s not enough facing a rested Indiana side that seems to be gathering some momentum and has won and covered four-straight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The Lakers have lost both chances playing second night of back-to-backs this season and it’s tough to envision them going into an arena where they are 1-8 straight-up the last nine visits and have failed to cover five straight. Play Indiana.
