The Sacramento Kings (8-14, 11th in NBA – West) and the Los Angeles Clippers (11-10, 6th in NBA – West) are scheduled to close the Wednesday basketball betting board on Wednesday night with tipoff scheduled for 10:30pm ET at the Staples Center. Paul George and his Clippers’ teammates host the Kings in LA’s opener of a four-day, two-game schedule.
This Wednesday night event is the first time the two west coast crews have played this 2021 regular season. The two teams, which haven’t gone head-to-head yet, will meet up in Sacramento on Saturday night.
While the Kings have scuffled to a 3-10 mark since a 5-4 start, the Clippers are shuffling down a similar parkway, opening with a solid 8-4 record before losing six of their last nine.
Sacramento Kings
Forward Chimezie Metu, a four-year professional, has made more starts for the Clippers this season, in total eight, than in his first three seasons combined. Metu played 36 minutes in Tuesday’s loss due to the inactive status of Marvin Bagley III, Harrison Barnes, and Maurice Harkless.
The Kings have been uber-successful versus the Clippers at Staples Center. Sacramento has earned wins in three of their last four visits. However, the Clippers’ record in Sacramento is a different animal. The Clips have won 15 consecutive times on the Kings’ home court.
Sacramento is 3-7 across their last ten games, averaging just 108 points per game while allowing an average of 115.5 points. Richaun Holmes has returned from a brief stint on the injury report to average over 15 points per game and is grabbing ten boards per contest for the Kings. Former Kentucky Wildcat De’Aaron Fox has seen his game average climb to over 20.0 points per across his last ten games.
Los Angeles Clippers
George ranks sixth in the league scoring 25.9 points per game. The Clippers’ top scorer also adds 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. George scored a game-high 27 points in Monday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. George has netted 20 or more points in 17 of the Clippers’ 21 games this 2021 season.
Los Angeles is just 4-6 in their last ten games and averages over 101 points per game. Conversely, the Clippers surrender 103.5 points per game.

There isn’t any question that the Paul George led-Clippers can defend. Los Angeles is allowing 103.7 points per 100 possessions. The Clippers defend with fever and, in the process, don’t foul. The Clippers lead the league in opponent free throw rate at 14.0 made free throws per 100 possessions.
Their half-court defense is tremendous, giving up just 86.9 points per 100 plays, and they are ninth in transition defensive efficiency at 118.6. These incredible statistics have led to a + 2.3 net rating in non-garbage time despite being one of the worst offenses in the league, and that is getting worse.
That detailed information brings the negative of this Clippers’ outfit. Across the last nine games, George and the Clips go 3-6 against the number they have an offensive rating of 100.1 points per 100 possessions.
As a whole, Los Angeles is 25th in the league with 106.0 points per 100 possessions. But, the Kings and the points are the only way I can push money across the sportsbook counter in this Kings and Clippers Wednesday night affair.

Sacramento is coming off blowing a 59-50 halftime lead to the Lakers and getting blown out 67-33 in the second half to lose 117-92 vs. the Lakers (without LeBron) last night at the Golden 1 Center, and the Kings have dropped their last two playing when unrested. Still, must acknowledge Sacramento has had some success at Staples Center against the Clippers. Sacramento has won and covered three of last four trips to visit the Clips, who are rested but who have also lost six of their last seven spread decisions, grabbing only 48% of the rebounds in those games while ranking 29th in turnover percentage and 27th in net ratio in that segment.
