LA Lakers vs Chicago Bulls Predictions
- LA Lakers vs Chicago Bulls
- Total: 216.5 Points
- The Bulls are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games without rest.
- The Lakers are 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 home games.
The Chicago Bulls weren’t required to board a plane nor change hotel rooms in preparation for the second leg of a back-to-back for a Monday night showdown versus the Los Angeles Lakers. The Bulls and the L.A. Clippers were the Sunday night National Basketball Association finale at STAPLES Center, the same venue that the Lakers will host the Bulls tonight. Thus, an Eastern versus Western Conference matchup in Los Angeles features two teams playing on consecutive nights.
Chicago veteran guard DeMar DeRozan scored 35 points, and Zach LaVine added 29 to help the Bulls beat the Clippers 100-90 on Sunday night. The impressive victory by a short-handed Chicago crew ended the Clippers’ seven-game winning streak.
L.A.’s Anthony Davis had 34 points and 15 rebounds to help the Lakers defeat the San Antonio Spurs 114-106 on Sunday. Anthony Davis challenged the Lakers in his Wednesday postgame presser after L.A. lost by 24 points, 107-83, to a struggling Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves, who entered the game losing six in a row with a 3-7 record, found a way to outlast the Lakers, and Davis acknowledged after the game L.A. is not at the level it needs to be to win title No. 18 this year.
“We have to decide who we want to be. A championship team? That’s not us right now. We’re not winning a championship the way we’re playing,” Davis said. “We have to be better. We got to care more for our wins at home, wins in general.”
On Sunday, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel told the media that Talen Horton-Tucker would make his season debut against the San Antonio Spurs before tipoff. Vogel added, “Melo [Carmelo Anthony] is at his best coming off the bench.”
The Bulls’ Alex Caruso, a former Laker in his first season with Chicago, is comfortable playing on the STAPLES Center court. Caruso scored seven points and added nine rebounds played a team-high 39 minutes in Sunday night’s win will be asked to gut out a second straight 30-plus minute workload with the Bulls Nikola Vucevic out for a second straight game to health and safety protocols.
The Lakers are 7-4 straight-up in home games and 0-1 playing the second-leg of a back-to-back. Los Angeles ranks 24th in the league scoring 105.2 points per 100 possessions. Defensively the Lakers rank 15th, allowing 108.9 points per 100 possessions.
The Bulls are 4-2 as a visitor this season. Chicago is the 11th ranked franchise in the Association, scoring 109.5 points per 100 possessions. The Bulls have been a surprise defensively. Chicago ranks as the 4th best defense in points allowed per 100 possessions surrendering 104.1.
LA Lakers vs Chicago Bulls Injury Report
Lakers: Trevor Ariza: out (ankle sprain), Austin Reaves: out (hamstring), LeBron James: out (abdominal strain), Kendrick Nunn: out (ankle/knee).
Bulls: Coby White: out (shoulder), Patrick Williams: out (wrist), Nikola Vucevic: out (COVID – health and safety protocols).
The Bulls will play their second back-to-back of the 2021-22 campaign. Chicago is 1-0 in this situation after earning a 97-82 win at the United Center on Oct. 23 against the Detroit Pistons as 8-point home chalk. Tonight the investment value in the late west coast contest rests with the Bulls as the short road underdogs against a short-handed and rested Lakers squad.

LA Lakers vs Chicago Bulls Analysis from The GoldSheet
Chicago played with a bit of a spring in its step on Sunday vs. the Clips at Staples Center, the team collectively lifted to support DeMar DeRozan in his first return to his native LA since his dad passed away earlier in the year. Nobody did as much as DeRozan on Sunday, either, as his 35 points dominated the proceedings in a 10-point Bulls win. Thus, with the season nearly a month old, the Bulls have only lost to the Sixers (twice), Knicks when surging, and the red-hot Warriors. It’s a homecoming for another local product, too, ex-UCLA wing Zach LaVine, combining with DeRozan to produce better than 53 points per game across the first month. Meanwhile the Lake Show is once again not creating much value for its backers, going 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games as LeBron remains sidelined with an abdominal strain. LA is 3-3 straight-up without him, but has been run out of the building a couple of times in that stretch, including last Friday’s shocking 24-point home loss to the T-wolves.
