LA Lakers vs Phoenix Suns Analysis

The floundering Los Angeles Lakers take a trip to Phoenix for a Western Conference showdown with the Suns. The Suns are coming off two straight losses, but are just looking to remain healthy as they have clinched home court advantage through the NBA playoffs.

On the other hand, the Lakers need every win they can get but have lost six straight. Phoenix is looking to bring out the brooms with a four game regular season series sweep. They have owned the Lakers winning all three games by double digits.

Suns Have Laser Focus on Post Season

The Phoenix Suns would like to bounce back from two straight losses but at 62-14 they have a comfortable lead in the West.

With home court advantage locked up for the entire post-season it’s all about rest and workload management. However they could get an easy victory tonight over a Laker team they have beaten by 10, 18 and 29 this season.

The Suns are essentially as healthy as they want to be with no players of note listed on their injury report. Phoenix was beaten by the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-96 in their previous game.

Devin Booker was rested and Mikal Bridges led the team with 17 points. The Suns have been scoring points at will with an average of 115 on the season and 120 over their last 15 games.

Off Season Can’t Come Quick Enough For Lifeless Lakers

LeBron James has went on the record with his disdain for the play-in round of the NBA playoffs. Now it looks like not even that lifeline can save him and Lakers from missing the post-season altogether.

After losing six straight games, they now sit two games behind the 10th-seeded San Antonio Spurs with only four games to play.

Their latest loss came on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets by the final score of 129-118. Anthony Davis led the team in scoring with 28 points and rebounds with 8, while Russell Westbrook posted a 27 point 10 assist double double.

The Lakers are now 31-47 and the injuries are piling up. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both questionable for this contest and I would be surprised to see either play.

Without their two superstars the Lakers will have little to no chance against a healthy Suns team. Defense has been this teams problem all season long and it’s been even worse recently.

On the season they rank 26th with almost 115 points allowed per game and 29th with over 123 points allowed a game over their last 15 games.

LA Lakers vs Phoenix Suns Prediction

The Phoenix Suns are huge favorites of 13 points and a total of 231.5. It’s tough to tell what type of minutes restrictions the Phoenix Suns will deploy in a meaningless game.

However they could put one the final nail in the Lakers coffin if they are interested in that. The Lakers should be desperate for a victory but may be ridiculously short handed as well.

The Suns seem to roll offensively regardless of opponent and they may lack defensive intensity. Let’s take shot on the Suns team total over in a game with tons of uncertainty.

Prediction: Phoenix Suns Team Total Over 122.5
