Lakers vs Bucks Analysis
The Milwaukee Bucks got their Western road trip started off right at the weekend with two blowout wins over the Portland Trail Blazers and LA Clippers respectively.
On Tuesday, they’ll look to make it win number three as they play a Los Angeles Lakers team who have just two wins over their last five contests in all, but both of those wins came inside crypto.com Arena.
This is the teams’ second meeting of the season so far with Milwaukee running out 109-102 winners against Los Angeles back in November.
Bucks Look to Stay Focused
It’s been three-straight wins now for the Bucks after struggling for much of January and former two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has been quick to say the focus is still there for this Bucks team while other teams may be simply looking ahead to next week’s All-Star Game as the potential for some much needed rest.
Giannis has averaged over 30 points per game over his last six starts as the Bucks look to close out the first half of the season strong with another winner here on Tuesday night over in LA.
Westbrook not Firing
Los Angeles also looks to go into next week’s break strong, but need a severe boost from former All-Star point-guard Russell Westbrook to help along with that.
Westbrook went just 1 of 10 from the floor in Saturday’s OT win against the Knicks along with 0 of 3 from three point range in that game as well as he continues to struggle from outside the perimeter of late.
The former OKC man went just 2 of 9 from three point range over his previous two starts and the Lakers will be hoping he can bounceback here on Tuesday against a surging Milwaukee Bucks team.
Lakers vs Bucks Prediction
We’re going to look towards the hometown Los Angeles Lakers here on Tuesday as short home dogs in a spot we believe they bounceback in tonight.
Milwaukee is red-hot right now, averaging 137 ppg over this current road trip so far. On top of that, the Bucks shot 50% from the perimeter in Sunday’s win over the Clippers, almost 14% more than their mid-season average.
While the Lakers have struggled in games of late, this is an area they’ve traditionally been strong in, ranking as a top half team in the league this season at home on perimeter defense.
With the Lakers being so poor offensively themselves from downtown in Saturday’s win over the Knicks, we like a bounceback here tonight in LA and like the value on the Lakers catching points at home in this one against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Take Los Angeles plus the points in Tuesday night’s Lakers vs Bucks clash on TNT.
Lakers vs Bucks Preview from GoldSheet
With five teams within two games at the top of the East, every win could make a difference for defending champions Milwaukee side that really could use a home court edge in the playoffs (15-12 straight-up at the FiServ Forum). The Bucks won but didn’t cover the first meeting between these two this season with a 109-102 win laying nine points on a night when Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 47 points which was almost double the production of anyone else in the game. LeBron didn’t play in that first meeting, as Talen Horton-Tucker’s 25 pts. and 12 rebounds led the Lakers in both categories, and Westbrook (19) and AD (18) didn’t have outstanding scoring outings.
LeBron will make a difference this time around, but the team has lost top bench scorer Carmelo Anthony, and both LeBron (knee) and Davis (wrist) playing with minor issues. Milwaukee has is triumvirate of Giannis, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday healthy as well, plus Buck C Bobby Portis has been a major player lately, scoring 54 pts. in the last 2 games and scoring 16 ppg and grabbing 9.5 rpg over the last 15 games. Lakers playing better defense of late, and this one figures to be played with playoff level intensity.
