Lakers vs Pelicans Analysis
*All lines provided by DraftKings
The New Orleans Pelicans travel west to Los Angeles for a Western Conference showdown with the Lakers in a game that will be featured on NBA TV.
The Lakers are falling apart at the seams, losing four straight games. Their latest loss came in Utah by a score of 122-109. Meanwhile the Pels are coming off a 117-107 victory in Portland over the Trailblazers.
New Orleans will be looking for a three game regular season series sweep over the Lakers. They won 123-95 in Los Angeles back in late February and again this Sunday 116-108 at home.
The Pelicans have a couple of players that are targeted by prop bettors and it looks like Lebron James and Anthony Davis will return for LA so we have some interesting angles.
Lakers vs Pelicans Team Totals
The New Orleans Pelicans are small favorites of only 1.5 points with a total set at 230.5, setting both team totals at 115.5.
It’s hard to know what to expect from the Lakers as their two star players return. One thing is for sure, the Lakers play horrendous defense regardless of who is on the hardwood. They allow 114.6 points per game on the season, which is 4th most in the league.
Over the last 15 games they are even worse, allowing 123.5 points a game, second most in the NBA. The Pels also eclipsed tonight’s team total in both head-to-head meetings with the Lakers, scoring 116 and 123. Pelicans team total over 115.5 is the play.
Team Total Prop Play: New Orleans Pelicans Over 115.5
Lakers vs Pelicans Player Props
As of writing this article the waters have become even more murky. Lebron James tweeted what could be an April Fool’s joke, saying he is out for the remainder of the season.
Regardless I don’t see how you could possibly gage Laker player props at this point. It seems like CJ Mccollum and Brandon Ingram have decided to alternate big games since Ingrams return from injury.
Two games ago against these same Lakers it was Ingrams turn and he scored 26 points. Last game was Mccollums turn and he put up 25 points. Tonight Ingram will be facing off against the same Lakers team that sent him packing back in 2019.
With tonights game being in Los Angeles, I envision a monster effort from Ingram. His point total is 22.5 and over is the only way I can look.
Player Prop Play: Brandon Ingram Over 22.5 Points
Lakers vs Pelicans Same Game Parlay
As usual we will start with the Ingram play but lowered to 20+ points. We will also use that Pelicans team total, but let’s take it all the way down to 108.5.
CJ McCollum has hit 2+ three-pointers in 14 of his last 16 games. The Lakers can’t defend the perimeter to save their lives, so that shouldn’t be too much to ask for. All three legs equal +120 odds with a high probability of cashing.
Same Game Prop Parlay Play:
Brandon Ingram 20+ Points
CJ Mccollum 2+ Three-pointers
New Orleans Pelicans Team Total OVER 108.5
+120
