Los Angeles Lakers vs Atlanta Hawks Betting Analysis
The Atlanta Hawks travel West for an inter conference showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. The Lakers won their third straight game 112-109 at home against the Miami Heat. The Hawks snapped a four game losing streak with a 120-117 victory in Sacramento on Wednesday.
This is the second and final meeting between these two squads as the Lakers prevailed 130-121 in Los Angeles last Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 PM EST/7:30 EST.
Hawks Snap Four Game Skid
The Atlanta Hawks improved to 18-20 on the season after winning in Sacramento on Wednesday. They outshot the Kings 45-84 53.6% compared to 41-88 46.6%. John Collins and D’Andre Hunter both led the team in scoring with 22 points each.
Trae Young and Dejounte Murray were right behind the 21 points each. The Hawks are an above average offensive team at 11th with 115.4 points a game on 46.8% from the field.
They are below average defensively at 16th in defensive rating and 22nd in scoring with 116.3 points allowed per game. Clint Capela has been ruled out for this contest with a calf injury.
Lakers Look For Fourth Straight Win
The Los Angeles Lakers improved to 17-21 on the season after hanging on for a victory over the Heat on Wednesday. The Lakers got the best of them at the charity, going 24-30 for 80% compared to 15-21 for 71.4%.
Dennis Schroder led all scorers with 32 points, going 8-15 from the field and 12-14 from the free-throw line. Thomas Bryant added 21 points and 9 rebounds while Russell Westbrook chipped in with 21 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds off the bench.
Scoring is the Lakers strength as they rank 9th with 116 points a game on 48.2% from the field. Defense has been a struggle, where they sit at 17th in defensive rating and 26th in scoring with 117.4 points allowed per game.
LeBron James and Russell Westbrook are both day-to-day but look to be ready for action. Lonnie Walker IV, Troy Brown Jr and Austin Reves have all been ruled out for this contest.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Atlanta Hawks Prediction
The Atlanta Hawks are favored by 2.5 points over the Los Angeles Lakers with a total set at 242.5. We have two teams with plenty of talent that have both underperformed partially due dealing with injuries. Trae Young seems to really thrive on the road in playoff or playoff type atmospheres.
He has had success against the Lakers with 25, 36 & 29 points in his last three games against them. It makes complete since, considering that the Lakers allow the 5th most points to opposing point guards with 25.82 points per game.
These teams rank 4th & 5th in terms of pace of play so with a total of 242.5 we should see plenty of scoring and Young will be leading the way.
