Memphis Grizzlies vs Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis
The Phoenix Suns visit the Memphis for a Western Conference tilt with the Grizzlies on Tuesday night. The Grizzlies lost at home on Christmas Day 123-109 against the Golden State Warriors. The Suns also lost on a Christmas game 128-125 in Denver against the Nuggets.
This will be the second of four regular season meetings between these teams, Memphis prevailed on the road in Phoenix 125-100 this past Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PST from FedEx Forum.
Suns On The Bad List
The Phoenix Suns currently sit at 4th place in Western Conference with a 19-15 record after losing in overtime in Denver on Christmas night. They were without the services of their superstar Devin Booker due to a groin injury.
Landry Shamet led the Suns in scoring with 31 points off the bench. De’Andre Ayton added 22 points while leading the team in rebounds with 16. Chris Paul also had a double-double with 17 points and 16 assists.
Phoenix did nothing to slow down Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic, who had 41 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists. The Suns have lost three straight and 9 of their last 14 games. Phoenix ranks 8th in scoring with 115.5 points a game and 10th in defensive scoring with 111.6 points allowed per game.
Booker has already been ruled out for this contest along with Cameron Payne with a foot injury and Landry Shamet with achilles tightness.
Grizzlies Get Grinched
The Memphis Grizzlies record dipped to 20-12 on the season after losing to a Steph Curry-less Warriors team on Christmas Day. Memphis was completely outshot from long range as Golden State went 18-44 for 40.9% while the Grizzlies went only 9-39 for 23.1%.
Ja Morant was the games leading scorer with 36 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Steven Adams had 14 rebounds and 6 points and Tyus Jones scored 13 off the bench. The Grizzlies rank 9th in scoring with 115.5 points a game on 46% from the field.
They sit at 8th in defensive scoring with 111.3 points allowed per game. Memphis is the best rebounding team in the NBA as they snatch 48.8 rebounds per game. The Grizzlies sport a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
The Memphis Grizzlies are 8 point home favorites with a total of 225.5. This is a showdown between two teams who could end going head-to-head in the Western Conference Finals.
However the Suns are currently missing some key personnel in Devin Booker, Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet. Memphis ran Phoenix over 125-100 only four of five days ago. On top of that, the Grizz will get their #2 scorer back from injury tonight in Desmond Bane.
Not only will the Suns be short-handed, they are coming off a demoralizing Christmas Day loss in overtime against the Denver Nuggets. Memphis also lost on Christmas Day but it feels like they thrive in motivational spots.
The Grizzlies team total is 116.5 and I’m going over in this one. Memphis isn’t your average team as their second unit has the ability to keep their foot on the gas in a blowout.
