Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks Analysis
The Miami Heat host the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night with both teams coming in red-hot into this one.
Dallas has won four of their last five games while the Eastern Conference leading Miami Heat have won five straight games themselves.
This will be the teams’ second meeting of the season with Miami coming out 125-110 winners back in Dallas on November 2nd.
Doncic Shouldering Mavericks’ Workload
With Dallas’ trade-away of Porzingis already in the books, Luka Doncic has already took on that extra workload and has been dominant over recent games.
Doncic has already averaged 27.2 ppg this season, 5th highest in the league, but has got even better over recent starts, putting up an average of 43 points over his last three games.
With the big Point Guard ranking top 5 in assists and top 20 in total rebounds this year also, Miami are going to have to find a way to slow him down later tonight in order to get the win.
Heat Are Red-Hot Right Now
The Miami Heat are tied for their longest win streak of the season heading into Tuesday’s game against the Mavericks and will look to eclipse that later tonight.
The Heat have averaged 116 ppg over their last three starts and are the league leaders on three point shooting percentage this season at 37.6%.
That percentage has got even higher over recent games as well, with the Heat averaging 40.9% over their last three starts with Power Forward P. J. Tucker topping the charts with the league’s best three point shooting percentage this season at 45.8%.

Miami ranks 6th in the league on overall defensive efficiency this season and have got even better over recent starts as well, with the Heat allowing the league’s 5th fewest opponent points per game this season also.
On Tuesday, they’ll face a Dallas team that ranks 3rd in the league on opponent three point shooting percentage this season and that’s an area Miami have traditionally focused on in regards to scoring.
The Heat are just 27th in the league this season on total points in the paint scored, so if Dallas can continue their solid perimeter defense later tonight, this should be a low scoring game.

These two only meet twice a year, but the Mavs have had problems with Miami in recent seasons, going 3-10 both straight-up and against the spread over the past six-and-a-half seasons. However, Dallas’ locker room a bit more settled with the trade of Kristaps Porzingis making all-star Mav PG Luka Doncic a much more secure and focused superstar. The Mavs are coming off a straight-up loss, which has been a spur for them over the last few months, as they have responded with a 10-2 pointspread mark after their last 12 losses. Mavs 15-6 straight-up in their last 21 games and covered 65% of those contests.
Miami is 23-9 since early December, so it’s clear considering all the injuries and Covid problems, Erik Spoelstra is coaching his designer loafers off. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are cooking, and sixth man Tyler Herro returned to action Saturday after taking a few games off to nurse a sore knee.
