Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors Analysis

The Golden State Warriors travel to FTX Arena for an interconference showdown with the Miami Heat. The Heat lost their second straight road game on Saturday with a 119-113 defeat at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.

The Warriors are also coming off a two game losing streak on the road after losing 128-114 in Detroit against the Pistons. These teams played their first of two head-to-head meetings on Thursday with Golden State prevailing at home 123-110. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST from South Beach.

Miami Hasn’t Brought The Heat

The Miami Heat are off to a brutal as they have opened the 2022-23 campaign with a 2-5 record. Their most recent loss came on the road in Sacramento by the final score of 119-113.

Tyler Herro led all scorers with 34 points on 13 for 22 from the field and 5 for 8 from beyond the arc. Bam Adebayo chipped in with 23 points while Jimmy Butler led the Heat in rebounds and assists with 7 & 6 respectively.

Miami had to work to make it that close after falling behind 71-49 at halftime. All in all it was an embarrassing loss as it was the Kings first win of the season.

Defense is usually the calling card for Miami, however they currently rank only 11th in scoring defense with 110.6 points allowed per game. However the Heat have really struggled to score as they rank 26th with only 108 points a game.

Warriors Squashed By Pistons

The Golden State Warriors were run of the court 128-114 on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons. Klay Thompson sat as it was the second game of a back-to-back and the team has decided to play it safe with Thompson after missing 2+ seasons with an Achilles tear and ACL injury.

No surprise, Steph Curry led the Warriors in scoring with 32 points on 10 for 24 from the field. Jordan Poole wasn’t far behind with 30 points on 10 for 21 shooting. The only other Warrior in double digits was Andrew Wiggins with only 10 points.

The Warriors defense has surprisingly horrendous as they rank dead last with 122 points allowed per game. It seems as though father time has caught up to the once incredible defensive players like Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. However they are #1 in scoring with 118.7 points a game.

Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors Prediction

The Miami Heat are favored by 1 point against the Golden State Warriors with a total of 225.5. This is a horrible scheduling spot for the Warriors as they are playing their 5th game in 7 days with three of those games being on the road.

The Heat know defense gives them the best opportunity to win this game, so they will try to slow it down as they rank 21st in pace of play. As we mentioned earlier, the Heat allow 110.6 a game, ranking 11th in the NBA.

The Warriors are shooting only 34.3% from long distance and tired jump shooters tend to front rim their shots. The Golden State team total is set at 113.5 and I’m going under on this aging and tired team.
