Miami Heat vs New York Knicks Analysis
The New York Knicks will be taking their talent to South Beach to face the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. The Knicks sit at 23-25 after getting edged out 95-93 in Cleveland on Monday night. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat beat the Los Angeles Lakers 113-107 improving their record to 30-17. This will be the first of three head-to-head matchups between these squads.
Knicks Continue to Struggle
The New York Knicks loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers was their fourth in their last five games. They trailed the entire game before putting on a 4th quarter run that fell just short 95-93. RJ Barrett led his team with 24 points, while Julius Randle added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. With the desire to return to the playoffs the Knicks seem destined for a move at the trade deadline.
They have already added Cam Reddish, but he is still getting acclimated to the team. New York is still without Derrick Rose and Mitchell Robinson is questionable with an ankle injury. The Knicks only score 103.9 points a game which ranks a dismal 27th in the NBA, while ranking 5th with only 104.3 points allowed per game.
Butler Messed Around & Got a Triple Double
The Miami Heat continue to roll as they beat the Los Angeles Lakers 113-103 for their 7th win in nine games. Their 30-17 record is tops in a loaded Eastern Conference. Jimmy Butler put together a 20 point, 12 assist, 10 rebound triple double. Duncan Robinson led the team with 25 points.
Kyle Lowry, Markieff Morris and KZ Okpala are all out for Wednesday nights clash. Despite dealing with a slew of injuries the Heat continue to mix and match pieces to get the job done. The Heat hold opponents to just over 104 points a game which ranks them 4th in the league, while ranking 14th with 108.6 points scored per game.
Miami Heat vs New York Knicks Prediction
The Miami Heat are six point home favorites with the over/under set at 203. The Heat are an outstanding 28-19 against the spread, while the Knicks are 24-24 against the spread. Miami’s last five wins have been by an average of 10.6 points, while the Knicks last five losses have been by an average of 9.8 points.
Lay the six points with Miami Heat in this one, as they are more talented and in far better current form. If Mitchell Robinson is out I like the Heat even more, as they will struggle to defend the paint.
Official Play: Miami Heat -6

Miami Heat vs New York Knicks Preview from GoldSheet
New York has had very little luck against Miami in recent seasons, losing 9 of the last 11 vs. the Heat while covering two of last eight of those. The Knicks are coming off a heartbreak loss (but cover) against Cleveland two days ago and have covered the next game after seven of the Knicks last nine straight up losses.
Thibs’ team has also covered eight of its last 11 overall, including four straight as an underdog, and NY leads the league in rebound percentage over those 11 games. Miami has bee missing key piece G Kyle Lowry for the last four games for personal reasons, and the team has been tight-lipped about what the issue is and have provided no information on a timeline for his possible return.
Still in all the Heat have won and covered three of those last four, five of last six as a favorite and have run their spread mark to 8-2 in the last 10, as HC Eric Spoelstra’s squad has ranked 5th in net rating in that span. With Lowry out of action, Gabe Vincent has contributed 13 ppg and 6 apg in the 4 games since Lowry sat down.
Despite series history, look to take a shot with NY Gs RJ Barrett (23.4 ppg and 43% on treys in last 11 games) & Evan Fournier (15 ppg, 46.7% treys L11), hitting from long range, while PF Julius Randle (19 ppg on the year) and C Mitchell Robinson continue gathering rebounds (combined 19 per game last 11 outings).
